TL;DR: Russia has decided that the UK is Russia's enemy, and there's nothing we can do to change that as long as Putin is in power. The choice is whether to be an undefeated enemy or a defeated one. That's all the choice we get.

Budapest was readying for the take when it thought Ukraine would fall to RU. Hungary clearly remains interested in annexing Ukraine's Zakarpattia region.

Russia didn't attack the intl security order to stop in Ukraine. It didn't form alliance with China, North Korea, & Iran to stop in UA, either. If Europeans don't want their cities to soon look like Mariupol, they must put planes in UA skies and boots on UA soil to defeat RU together WITH Ukraine.

Expecting good faith negotiations from Pu means failing to learn anything from 11yrs of war in Ukr and 30yrs of Ru wars in the neighbourhood. The war cannot end unless Pu gets pressured to end it. This strategy dramatically increases the chances of prolonging the war.
