OH this group replied to an unrelated post of mine asking for mutual aid, and I declined to engage because I looked into them and could not find any groups local to them who were connected to them or could claim them. That’s my very loose metric for those requests.
this group is suspicious as hell & run by some right-wing asshat who posted "all lives matter" & anti-trans videos on the SAME facebook account in 2020 as the NOW official shelter page

mutual aid is important as hell, this is just a gross thing to do asshole

BREAKING: Instacart is ending all price testing on its platform in the wake of this report.
EXCLUSIVE: We found that Instacart is using AI algorithms to charge customers different prices for the same items.

It's not just online. It's in physical grocery stores too.

Our months-long investigation with @consumerreports.org and @groundwork.bsky.social found it could cost families $1200/year.

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.

this is a good reminder of how things that are shitty but have been accepted as normal and inevitable can actually turn out to be abnormal and evitable with some science, time, education and political will

Been thinking on the use of GenAi for mood boards. Ethics and legal risks aside, I truly believe using GenAi as references deprives one of many pivotal things.

Here’s a blurb on what I mean:

So there is already an ai-generated whitewashing campaign to bury the name of the Muslim man, Ahmed al Ahmed, who disarmed one of the Bondi Beach shooters, and replace his identity with a white guy name and that’s why even a thimble of our potable water powering this tech is too fucking much.

a side note, but: 'no talent likenesses' will be used. So, Chris Pratt and whoever else are protected (for the moment). But the animators and designers who made these characters you are now willingly feeding into the slop machine designed to replace them...they're not considered talent.

Half of House Democrats just voted for a bill that legally defines trans women as men and trans men as women.
As Trump drags us into an Iraq-style war in Venezuela, 312 members of the House — including 115 Democrats — just voted to authorize over $900 billion in military spending.

The thing that gets me about this is that even if we wanted to make a positive AI ad, they never showcase AI being used to enhance someone’s day or improve their workflow. There’s no “it allows me to more easily do what I love.” It’s always presented as a failsafe for the dispassionate and incurious
Every ad for AI is like

Person: FUCK!! I don’t know what to get my loved one for Christmas!!!!!! I love them so much!!! Tell me what to do, AI!!

AI: get sock

Title Card: You are literally the smartest person for doing this

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

Pichelli has since said this was taken out of context from an off-hand conversation she had at a busy con with someone who did not identify himself as a journalist and is twisting her words for click bait

Which is extra fun since this is the post that took off and doesn't even include a source link
Miles Morales co-creator Sara Pichelli says she does not get any royalties from the ‘Spider-Verse’ films, Insomniac games, or merch

"I don’t get anything … that's the saddest part of my life"

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Amnesty International, interviewing migrant detainees, identifies use of the confinement box. There can be no denying it is a torture prison

the fact that patreon employees will just straight up say, to your faces now, "I stalked your other accounts and found something in a *cartooning style* that made me personally uncomfortable so I'm taking your income away" should be way more alarming to people.
◇Turns out it was a combination of Patreon thinking Karen and Emily looked too much like minors, and not wanting to mix sex and hypno bc that's inherently noncon and against the rules. After a few days of scrambling we abandoned our Patreon and set up our SubscribeStar.◇
