Even if you *could* "fix" the nazi platform — WHY WOULD YOU BUILD ECONOMIC VALUE FOR A WHITE SUPREMACIST. I swear people are goddamn fools. "Tell your progressive friends to go buy a Tesla so that other Tesla drivers might like us better?" Money is power. Don't give Musk power. Read a goddamn book.
You can’t “fix” X, The Everything App by going back and posting there because the owner has this thumb on the scale of the algorithm to promote the worst ideas and people. It’s not a viable solution, you have to let it go.
Dear Bluesky liberals. Come back to Twitter. Please. PLEASE.

Jay, you all owe an explanation of how it came to be that the exact list of users blamed by The Federalist were banned even if they did not break the ToS, and were not unsuspended until more than a day later.

There is a consistent pattern where people who are quite negative on the technology on many fronts find that adopting any position that is not uniformly negative provokes hostility that seems somewhat unwarranted, and I think this is not good.

It sucks that social media has ruined the possibility of honest discourse. Any discussions of eg LLMs immediately turns in to "I am right. You are an AI dudebro. Be gone." rather than trying to engage in a conversation. And I understand why it is this way, it is a totally understandable reaction...

This should be obvious, but I’m going to say it anyway because the internet has a way of making obvious things less obvious:

You cannot substantively care about every worthy cause out there.

If your response is “Maybe YOU can’t, but I can!” you are confusing feeling with actually caring.

Some people want comedians to run for office b/c they are unapologetic about being leftists (/left-ish). Everything is awful and at least they are not afraid to say it.

People are desperate for a party that is not full of mealy mouthed losers that trip all over themselves running to the right.

I understand the logic behind not platforming Nazis, fascists, transphobes, etc.

But I have to say. I don't think it's working.

Depression is a protective urge; a chemical drive to return you to the safety of your innermost den to wait for a storm to pass, a bone to knit, a wound to heal. Civilization provides eternal psychic wounds from which there is no relief to be found in retreat, a storm which will never blow away.

Today is the last day of the fundraiser at work and we're short of our match by ~$23,000.

It's so frustrating to see these software companies, who built their businesses in the backs of free software, throw millions at the inauguration just to kiss the ring.
