They're not even loosely placed gaffer tape. It's some random bash they copied from some random that copied it from some random container that copied it from some random container that was built by somebody who just copied it from a stackexchange post from 2013.

Well, that's just fucking cursed. So not only do they not know bash or unix, they also don't know containers.

sling containers around in kubernetes, all dependencies in containers. the app is a container. the server uses all its 4GB which will be 8GB next week. this is fine

look inside the container? no it's a container what do you mean look inside

i have done so myself for a while, but i am now seeing mulitple people on fuckin linkedin rant about alleged devops who sling containers about but can't use bash

just have no idea how a unix box works

and now i know why bash is a job skill one has to list

you could argue that playing lego with containers is a more efficient use of human time, and i'm sure they do

but also it keeps turning out abstractions are made of loosely placed gaffer tape

Every time some former celebrity I've never heard of endorses Reform, I go to their Wikipedia page to discover who they are and there's invariably a section about how they were convicted for assaulting their partner/a stranger/a police officer.

From top AI coding user globally to completely stop using it because it's so much harder to review AI code than write it myself. And they say all software developers jobs will be replaced by LLM. Life comes fast at you. 🤣

i've said before that (at least for my purposes, and possibly yours) it's more useful to define AI by the political qualities that surround and attend to the project. surveillance projects like Flock and ShotSpotter don't need to implement a certain tech stack to be recognizably "AI" projects

I also cover, in depth, why I think AI 2027 is a truly evil creation, and why its authors - and those who promoted it - are all craven grifters.

You know, if you see a Jewish person being upset because of that awful antisemitic massacre at Bondi Beach last night, you really don't have to explain to them why they're doing their sadness and anger at antisemitic massacres wrong. You can just keep that to yourself. It's allowed.

“Commercial breaks were largely filled with spots from direct-response advertisers, including the dietary supplement SuperBeets.

“Viewers of of the telecast on WCBS, the CBS flagship in New York, saw a commercial for Chia Pet, the terra-cotta figure that sprouts plant life after a few weeks.”
Major advertisers appeared to sit out a new CBS News town hall telecast Saturday, moderated by Bari Weiss and featuring an interview with Erika Kirk.

Lack of Madison Avenue support could challenge the viability of the format, which Weiss wants to expand

I'm sharing this not for the Bondi Beach conspiracy theory but for "Israel has been exposed as Zionist." This is what I mean when I say anti-Zionists live in an epistemic bubble, one in which "Zionist" means something so indescribably evil rather than what Israel openly describes itself as.

Real-time experiment: what happens when the world’s leading economy reallocates its law enforcement resources to liquidation of its own labor force?
New numbers show ICE is devouring US law enforcement: 1 in 5 US marshals, 1 in 5 FBI agents, half of all DEA agents, and over two-thirds of all ATF agents are now assigned to ICE enforcement. These are agencies with critical jobs they're now NOT doing.

In retrospect it's clear the USSS was aiming to become the go-to federal agency for computer crime cases (i.e. a turf grab), and this ill-conceived raid was their effort to grasp that big ring. It blew up in their face, and the FBI has handled computer crime cases ever since.

Hello friends, I recently lost my health insurance + benefits & am currently looking at a bill of over $16,000 for which I cannot pay. This would not necessarily be an issue if I were not visually impaired and currently out of full time work, but I am humbly asking for assistance now. Any bit helps.

That the legislature rather than the executive controls when and if the nation goes to war was one of the most specific, deliberate, and extensively explained changes the Constitution made from the British model. "This is a power the crown had but the president won't" was absolutely unambiguous.
