An autumnal view on the walking path by the side of a forest and tarn at Talkin Tarn Country Park, Brampton, Cumbria on a mostly cloudy October day. The branches of the trees are above the path and almost fill the picture and have leaves in various shades of green, yellow, and red, with many fallen leaves covering the ground. The path is carpeted with copper coloured leaves. On the left is a glimpse of the glacial tarn next to the path. Any light through the dense leaves is quite dull from the cloud cover apart from a glimpse of blue sky on the right of the picture. Talkin Tarn is a kettle-hole lake formed by the immense force of glaciers 18,000 years ago. Moving ice scoured and carved the landscape leaving glacial sand hills and a natural bowl, which filled with water as the ice sheet melted. The name Talkin is derived from the Celtic 'Talcan' meaning brow of a hill.
