I'm still thinking about this exchange. As is often the case, we see Nuzzi acting out the most extreme version of a phenomenon that is actually pretty common in elite media: people taking umbrage at the idea that they're supposed to exercise moral judgment, and can be blamed for not doing so.
@timmiller.bsky.social: "He's being nominated to HHS Secretary…You had information that you could have shared…and you didn't share anything about him. Why? Did you still love him?"

Olivia Nuzzi: "I don't know how to responsibly handle this on camera." lnk.thebulwark.com/4ozkaz8?utm_...

The entire glyphosate (Roundup herbicide) saga is an appalling example of politicized science and motivated reasoning. Now key anti-Roundup papers AND key pro-Roundup papers have been retracted. Worse, I'd be willing to take odds that partisans of both sides will be completely unbothered by this.

That book purported to be about Ruth but was actually about the persecution and character assassination of Rod Dreher as performed by his family and the inhabitants of Starhill, Louisiana and his boarding school.
Rod is still complaining about a piece I wrote for Alternet 12 years ago (I did not in fact suggest boycotting the book). cc @sharonk.bsky.social

THIS was the staggering millennial talent that hypnotized every 50+ man in DC and NYC? Really? Paired with hearing her actually speak and it’s a slap in the face to thousands and thousands of more talented journalists who have lost their jobs as their industry is strangled.
I cannot convey to you the sheer fucking weirdness of Olivia Nuzzi's book.

This can't be real. This can't be. The poster made this up. Right? Right? THIS is the dazzling reporter who got fluffed in the New York Times? Who had money materialize out of thin air to chill out in Malibu for a year after being nationally disgraced? Who got hired by Vanity Fair after this?
hands down my favorite line from a book that provides no value add to the written word besides being, possibly, the most narcissistic memoir ever put to paper.

I picture Yglesias with a grin while he typed this (possibly one-handed) - Bluesky lefites are BOTH pitifully weak and worthless while at the VERY SAME TIME decisive political forces that are destroying everything they touch. Right out of the autocrat's playbook re: the chosen enemies/scapegoats.
Y’all talked too much about the TN-7 race, turned it high salience, juiced turnout, and wrecked Dems’ chances of sneaking in a win.

📌That's a damn fine job in TN-07, and just the latest example of why Democrats need to compete EVERYWHERE.

📌Fully 100 current Republicans seats were less pro-Trump than TN-07 in last year's elections. If we hit these bastards where they are, it will be a bloodbath for the repulsive GOP next year.

Also worrying that the overperformances are growing at a correlated rate as Trumps dropping approval
Looks like TN-07 will end up around R+8, or a 13-point shift toward the Democrats from 2024.

What should worry Rs is that this one is hard to dismiss as a special election. It ended up nationalized, and turnout will be ~95% of 2022. It looked like a midterm general electorate.
