I have Very Severe ME, back up from Profound, a state where you’re not far away from a waking coma, and let me tell you what they say about the quality of life with this illness is true.

please mask up.

we’re still in a pandemic, and covid is oncogenic.

also it causes long covid and ME/CFS. severe ME has one of the lowest qualities of life out there. even mild ME can make you unable to work or enjoy life.

Why do kids get cancer at such a young age? Sometimes we find a mutant gene that runs in the family. Often not.

This 💎 of a paper from @vanallenlab.bsky.social and Riaz Gillani finds new causes of #childhoodcancer. This is worth your time!

Streets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm. Protesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

"The hundreds of billions of dollars companies are investing in AI now account for an astonishing 40 per cent share of US GDP growth this year... In a way, then, America has become one big bet on AI."
America is now one big bet on AI
It’s seen as the magic fix for every threat to the US economy

every day it's a man who looks like my father, taken to the ground. a man who looks like my brother, on his knees. a woman who looks just like my sister, screaming for her children. every day.

If you’re feeling immobilized and at a loss for what to do right now, I recommend starting small and checking in on your friends, especially those in communities impacted by ICE raids.

If you’ve done that and want to do more, my DMs are open

important for us in the US to note: even a solidly right wing government can't ignore this.

This is the biggest, toughest article I’ve done about so-called “AI psychosis.” It’s the story of a man who committed a horrific crime in his youth but served his time and against all odds found love and a new life—one that completely unraveled after he started talking to Google’s Gemini chatbot.
He Grew Obsessed With an AI Chatbot. Then He Vanished in the Ozarks
Jon Ganz committed a terrible crime in his youth, but he survived prison, fell in love, and started over. His new life unraveled in a way nobody could have predicted.

news seems to be bending over backwards to not just report that the president *declared a civil war today*, describing the military occupation of major urban areas "a war too. it's a war from within"

I hope it's clear to everyone now that Trump really is going for it - he's trying to become a dictator. I don't know if he'll succeed, but he's working to install himself as an autocrat unaccountable to voters. And he's weaponizing the military against Americans who oppose him as part of that effort

Disabled people tried to warn you that fascism wouldn’t stop with us

Other marginalized people gave the same warning

Fascists never stop

Hegseth ramped up the discrimination by targeting “fat troops, generals & admirals”

He’s going to force them to do PT tests

Resist. They won’t stop with us.

You don’t have to read between the lines. Trump is literally saying, publicly and out loud, that he is at war — actual, military-involved war — with Americans and American cities he personally dislikes. That impeachment is politically off the table is a national scandal.

Trump: You know, our inner cities, which we'll be talking about because it's a big part of war now, a big part of war.

If ever there was to be a time of widespread uprisings against the closing fist of this authoritarian frenzy, it would be now: Things are becoming bad but are not yet so bad that no one can do anything. Very narrow window for action here.

Is Broadview, IL an outlier, or a domino? Time will tell.
