I'm not an economist or historian, so this is only vibes... But I tend to think that the times we generally think of as the most prosperous (in NZ, Australia, UK and US at least) were the times with the strongest worker strength (unions) and the most public/government investment.

Since those times, worker rights and power have been dramatically eroded, government spending has been privatised and cut...

I don't think any of these thoughts I'm yeeting into the void are novel, but shit it frustrates me that this stuff (worker protections and government investment) aren't a core part of any mainstream political policy/discourse.

The thing to understand about this is that this catastrophe in the UK has redounded to the political benefit of the very same people and political movement that pushed for it! Extremely perverse.
