Ugh. AuDHD. Pro-human. Trans rights are human rights.

Statehood for D.C. is an ethical obligation at this point, required to protect the rights of our residents to govern ourselves against such out-of-state troops being sent to patrol our city.
NEW: Republican-led states, in a new filing at the D.C. Circuit, say D.C. residents are irrelevant, D.C. belongs to everyone else. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The filing is led by the South Carolina and West Virginia attorneys general. Both states sent troops to DC.

There are 75,977 people born in Somalia who are now citizens of the United States, including those specific people.

He is talking about US citizens. He is talking about *us*.

The truth is that none of us are garbage, and the job of the US president is to represent all of us.

We, the people.

btw, every "reasonable" person who's own posting stuff like "well, the prompt was unclear," or "she actually kind of did the assignment OK so maybe the TA overreacted"--you are also part of the problem! You're laundering the deliberate targeting of a TA and a blatant abrogation of academic freedom!
This thread is 💯. Labor precarity in academia means the evisceration of faculty governance and academic freedom, opening the door to administrative purges of the most vulnerable. And faculty-esp tenured faculty and academic leaders-who aren't defending their trans colleagues are enabling it.
So yeah, this is fundamentally about trans people and that cannot be elided, but the ways in which junior faculty are targeted and disposed of, while academic jobs are increasingly precarized, and political grandstanders seek to influence academic governance are fucking terrifying for everyone.

This has been one of the main references used in regulatory findings about Roundup for 25 years.

The EPA (which recently went through multiple rounds of cuts to scientific staff) has to release its updated decision on the safety of glyphosate sometime next year.

This is a big deal
The retraction basically says the authors relied on unpublished Monsanto studies to make key claims, that the authors weren’t independent, that Monsanto likely co-wrote the paper, and the authors received undisclosed financial compensation.

Shopify is a Canadian company, but its CEO Tobi Lütke is Maple MAGA in both words & monetary support (under the guise of “free speech” & “open commerce”).
Really beginning to hate Shopify, they are doing a lot to make shopping shittier lately

During promotional visits for her perfume lines, Taylor would quietly visit AIDS hospices. In San Francisco, she asked patients “if she could arrange to have their dogs walked; she asked if she could call their mothers for them or write letters for them.”
“In the early days it was a lonely battle. Studio heads whom Taylor had made lots of money for hung up on her … Some of her friends and advisers told her to stay away from HIV and AIDS because it could end her career.” www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/20...

Knowing about the student's family, I absolutely think this was planned. Kristi Fulnecky has been a canker on Springfield, MO politics for years and years. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
"the essay sucks ass" is no doubt true, couldn't be bothered to read it, but consider that the essay may have been written to receive an F in order to instigate a campaign against the trans TA. in any case it's not a great dunk because this isn't about the essay, it's about purging trans ppl

I have the misfortune of knowing more than I would care to about Kristi Fulnecky. The fact that her kid did this is entirely unsurprising.
she also resigned from the springfield missouri city council amid a campaign to recall her. when she ran for mayor, she lost by 36 points
funny bit of the OU TPUSA bible essay thing that's not being reported on: her mom was a defense lawyer for january 6th defendants. when her client was sentenced to 12 years in prison for attacking police officers she claimed he was a "political prisoner"

they only pulled this shit to get a trans person removed from her position. i don’t think it’s any deeper than that. the essay was bad and clearly didn’t fit the assignment since not only one but two of the people grading the course explained why the essay was bad with more kindness than necessary
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

Mirror wishes it could give you tips on facial expressions
After living unobtrusively in your hallway for the past six years, your mirror has been getting more and more furious at your inability to do anything right with your stupid face. Today, the mirror…
