I'm finally well enough to do some serious bloom strolling. It's the end of the 4th day of 2026. I'm eager for Monday and a return to a normal routine 🌱

Our foundry made all Olds and Cadillac cast iron blocks and heads, nodular cranks and many other parts like disc brake calipers and steering knuckles. 5000+ people in 1979, just over 500 today and only aluminum blocks and heads.

My new book is now available from my publisher as a eBook. Amazon and Indigo-Chapters and others will have it shortly. Paperback copies hopefully available by the end of the month on Amazon.

Home from holiday family visits… swinging bird feeder with wrapped squirrel was my first sight from inside out… now waiting to see if I notice them attempting it again.

🌱Potted up lightly rooted cuttings of Paliavana prasinata, a Sinningia relative. Surprised sections without foliage rooted, too, unheated & in Winter light. This large (to 7+ feet) shrubby 🦇Bat pollinated Gesneriad from Brazil blooms late Autumn here in Chicagoland, as days shorten. Gesneriaceae

Went strawberry hunting with the family.

You could eat as much as you like and just pay for the little bucket of 1.2KG

Was very busy but found a good spot.

2 bees arrived just after Xmas, each couple of days more bees arrived, today I counted 7 awesome honeybees 🐝🐝

Morning Bluesky. It's a cold one here with a touch of snow, persisting despite bright sunshine 🥶 Glad I didn't cut these rudbeckia back 😊🌱
