Worked hard to get this into Guardian Oz & big props to @fiercemum.bsky.social for setting it up & Melissa Davey for publishing it. She will doubtless get loads of hassle from transphobes for it, but it needs to be out there.

The BBC has circulated leaked guidance telling journalists to describe trans women as “biological males”.

“media literacy shouldn’t just be a side topic but treated as civic infrastructure”.

The teaching of it a type of “psychological inoculation”.

In Finland journalists impart this wisdom.

Can’t see this working in the UK when so much of our media relies on its ability to misinform ignorant people.

Draft Guidance on Toilets and Changing Rooms OUT for consultation.

No, not THAT guidance - but mine.

I got fed up with waiting for this government to get on with the guidance that’s really needed especially after the Kelly and Peggy cases.

The fact that speaking up for what is right, including trans people’s human rights, is detrimental to a journalist’s career is a huge indictment of media news in the UK.

Expected.

Appeals can be gifts. Forces the GC to move out of their comfort zone into a court where the only question is: “what does the law actually require?”
Used properly, we can lock in some very useful appellate-level holdings that will haunt them in every future “bathroom ban” scare story.

1/ You wouldn’t know it from the coverage, but two recent employment tribunal rulings have vindicated those of us who have said from the start that the Supreme Court judgment did not require the automatic exclusion of trans people from single-sex toilets and changing rooms. 🧵

Remember: the EHRC's Interim Guidance, and we understand the draft statutory guidance too, recommended a trans bathroom ban. Two tribunals have now disagreed.
This is the second decision - both first instance - since the appalling For (Some) Women Scotland decision to find that there is no trans bathroom ban. www.gov.uk/employment-t...

HR departments countrywide need to start treating gendercrit employees as potentially hostile. As soon as you are required to interact with one, you dust off the rulebook, you dot every eye and cross every t, and you assume bad faith at every turn.

They are a threat to every organisation.

At this stage it is beyond lazy journalism, it's anti-trans activism with a catchy theme tune

They keep saying their trying to find a compromise between the SC ruling and being inclusive while forgetting that their the government and they could simply change the law to say "The definition of Women in the Equality Act includes Trans Women" as the court only interprets current law

Interesting how Philipson has kicked the EHRC review into the long grass, yet utilises the SC ruling to ban trans women from the Labour Women's Conference.

Almost like she's a raving terf, realises the EHRC are on rocky ground, but still wants to ban transes.

MPs used to post regularly about mental health. It was an easy win for them to post about bland, uncontroversial things that people won’t disagree with but which made them appear caring & engaged.

They stopped doing this when I revealed Labour’s transphobic policies and the harm they are causing.

FACT-Fact- Table tennis doesn’t regulate the height of table tennis players.

The difference between the shortest woman and tallest woman will be measured in feet. The global height difference is only a few inches.

No sport discriminates on height.

Height is a tolerable advantage!!!
