I'd make a joke about taxing childfree men but let's be serious. They'd do that too. And wealth transfer from single people to families sucks as much as any lateral or upward wealth transfer.

Really, when you total it up, the time off, the property tax, the preferences given to "family men" which extend from employment to healthcare, there IS a tax on single and childfree people.

Codifying it into law would be a morality tax.

yeah I suppose I did ask for this framing it as as controversial opinion, but in practice this would be like an expansion of the child tax credit (which is functionally a transfer from childless to parents), rather than “barren whore surcharge” line on the W2.

Something I've found is that people respond to this idea very differently depending on if you put any effort into hiding you're doing this. Broadly speaking, childless people are fine paying taxes for public schools and not fine paying a childlessness tax even though they're basically the same thing

My most controversial take on this is probably that while I think reproductive freedom should be sacrosanct, I don’t really have any problem with additional taxes on (high income) childless people. Someone gotta pay into the pensions!

And I've become very tired of wholesale invention of facts, characters, etc in biopix being seen as acceptable without any acknowledgement that this is a work of fiction, one designed to fit an agenda, a belief or commercial considerations.

Beyond all that, I thought it was an awful, shoddy show.
