The ceasefire lie is a way to divert global attention from what's happening in Gaza. The killing and bombing continue every day. Don't forget us.
Israel is still bombing Gaza

The press isn't covering it as much but it's still happening

The attacks on Somalis are another illustration of how anti-immigration politics and anti-Black politics are deeply intertwined (not unlike the earlier attacks on Haitians.)

Not for the first time, there is functionally no difference, in the impact on our lives, between an organization that cuts off trans healthcare due to open bigotry and one that does so while hand-wringing about how hard a choice it is. What matters is that trans people still aren't getting care.

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

An experienced organizer I really respect once reminded folks "you can't always win, but you can always, always inflict a cost. Those add up."
You cannot match the size and resources of these organizations that are abandoning trans youth and sacrificing trans lives, but you have one advantage they do not: an ability to maintain a relentless focus upon them.

Make it your work, every week, to think about how you can punish them.

As a matter of survival, our response must be to make it as costly as we can, as ugly and as reputationally damaging and as expensive as we are able to - to abandon and sacrifice trans people.

To keep it from being an easy, simple bottom line decision to drive us out of public life.

Every organization is vulnerable somewhere. The larger they are, the more tender spots they have.

Disrupt their events. Drive negative press coverage. Damage their reputations. Compel your organizations and institutions to sever ties with them.

Be a hornet - sting where they are vulnerable.
Here in Boston, we’ve made it more costly for Fenway to abandon trans youth and trans adults by protesting in front of their clinic, by severing ties with them, and by disrupting their gala and public events.

I suggest local activists elsewhere investigate similar potentials for disruption.

This part is *infuriating*. This cis woman heard an 80 year old trans woman say, 'This is the only place I've been respected as a woman IN MY LIFE.'

And did not immediately think, 'I will fight every inch like a dying badger to keep her in my organization.'

Absolutely pathetic.

It's also funny that South America carries this stigma, but not... fucking Germany? Like, the post-WWII state in West Germany was mostly made up of nazis that kept their posts, and either no one bats an eye or they celebrate Germany's memory culture, which is just whitewashed nationalist bullshit?
It really is amazing how so many people in the US and Canada think that "harboring nazis" is a South America thing that has absolutely nothing to do with them at all

The raid is the first time NMD aid workers have witnessed agents breaking into constitutionally protected structures without a warrant—a significant escalation against humanitarian aid at the border.

There’s no such thing as the ideal disabled person and the insistence on only catering to the ideal disabled person creates compounding structures that actively harm the disabled community and these structures get repurposed pretty quickly for isolating and harming other marginalized groups
It reminds me of the classic “real victims” fallacy that mainly functions to deny that victims are really victims in pursuit of respecting “real victims” but it’s just a practice of shaming specific victims that hurts everyone

Why is it important to discourage non-disabled people from using accommodations? Do you close your eyes when you see captions in videos? Do you ALWAYS take the stairs and avoid ramps and elevators?

People die waiting for disability benefits hearings.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.
