The United States is an irredeemable and vile country that must be dismantled for the betterment of humanity.
I've held my nose and voted Dem for two contested gubernatorial races in a row. If someone doesn't primary her I'm just gonna leave that bubble blank or vote Green. I'm out. Don't care if this race is another squeaker.

Why is she running as a Republican? lol

If she doesn’t distinguish herself sufficiently to Drazen she might as well give the race up now.

Your reminder that The Atlantic is a magazine designed to launder conservative ideals to a liberal audience and should not be taken seriously.
Ratio me. Please. It's a badge of honor. If you don't like a link, go follow some chicken-heart who needs the approval of the thought-police. Caitlin Flanagan of @theatlantic.com is a tremendous writer and this piece is an excellent read. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Maybe I’m weird but I feel like a lot more time should be spent on investigating the city machinery that moves public money around to insiders & connected people than Republicans & former conservative city council candidates desperately trying to manufacture a public meeting law scandal.
The ambitious Old Town shoe manufacturing campus that secured a risky $7 million loan from Prosper Portland earlier this year has failed to meet the city’s loan requirements.

On vacancy fees: Due to a budget note I proposed in June, the administration is researching options and modeling out impacts for different types of long-term vacancy fees, both residential and commercial. That report comes to Council 2/28, so likely at a public meeting in March.
Unhoused folks and "crime" aren't destroying our small businesses, runaway landlord greed is. If a James Beard winner w/ a line out the door can't survive, who can?

We need a vacancy tax on commercial property.

I go to the movies a lot but I think I'm gonna miss Marty Supreme simply because Kevin O'Leary is on the cast. I don't think I could take it seriously with him on the screen.

This isn’t a developer crisis, it's an affordability crisis. While investors and developers may think it’s a joke to rent out units as “low” as $1,399 a month, the reality is that’s still more than many Portlanders can afford.

I think the funniest thing will be that it will be widely celebrated by regular folk but the media class will instinctively be like “I didn’t like him but we must pay our respects” and the discontent with legacy media will grow among even the most Maddow-pilled.
i think we should all commit ourselves to, at minimum, a national 3 day party When It Happens. one bottle of champagne in the back of your closet is no longer adequate. be prepared

TRAIN DREAMS is on @netflix.com today BUT it’s also still showing at the @hollywoodtheatre.org, which is where you should catch it if you can—through next Tuesday. It’s worth it to see it big. My review for the @portlandmercury.com:

Disagreement on policy is welcome and reasonable, but calling me a Nazi for cosponsoring an ordinance to ban price-fixing is completely unacceptable. Councilor Ryan edited his post, but did not disclose the edit and explain the nature of the substantive change, so it’s here for posterity.
