one of the coolest things about ChatGPT is how you can actually just never use it. you can fill your whole entire life with simply not once using it. it's incredible.

I have long posited that Daniel Craig's accent in Glass Onion is better than Knives Out because in Knives Out he is trying to do a real Southern accent and is bad at it but in Glass Onion he is just talking like Foghorn Leghorn, which is something a real gay Southern weirdo would do.

Hey so just fyi, if you're abandoning trans rights you're abandoning all civil rights

At that point what the fuck is the point of the democracy you're willing to sacrifice trans people for

This actually isn't hard at all, quit making it pretend hard because you finally feel scared too

I work in a grocery store deli! My book money means I can avoid constantly having to pick up extra shifts, but it's definitely a supplement to my money-money, not what I use to pay bills.
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE is warm, cozy, & out today. I hope you love it! 💗

The story: A cranky baker's erroneous obituary brings the woman who got away back into his life--& now he needs to convince her to stay.
The heat level: steamy!
The baked goods: plentiful!

Frankly, if I can manage it at all I'm going to wait to upgrade my phone until the AI bubble bursts and I can get one I don't have to struggle to de-gunk before I use it 🤷‍♀️

I think those 12 day "advent calendars" are an abomination BUT, if you give them as a Christmas present THEN they become an appropriate way to celebrate the entire holiday.
'Tis the season for one of my holiday pet peeves.

THE 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS RUN FROM DECEMBER 25 TO JANUARY 5.

THE DAYS LEADING UP TO CHRISTMAS ARE ADVENT WHICH IS WHY YOU HAVE ADVENT CALENDARS

this compounded by the AMOUNT christian nonsense inflicted on me by ppl who don't know their own shit

Let me (again) put this in the simplest possible terms:

If I subscribe or share a link to your substack, I'm supporting you, but I'm also complicit in funding Nazis.

I'd like to read your takes on music/animation/film/comics/culture/art/politics, but that's a hard line for me. Wish it was for you.

Ugh, I didn't know about this one. Of course it has all my books. Not only is that money I could use, but every sale helps those of us hanging on in the midlist keep publishing at all. Love to see hundreds of downloads on series that people complain haven't continued with more books. Yeah guess why.
I posted a buy link here to "A Magical Inheritance" a few days ago, and 24 of you immediately went to Anna's Archives and fucking stole it from me.

Yes, stole it.

I do not get paid for your download there because YOU ARE STEALING FROM ME.

I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

I don't have too many books, I don't have enough bookshelves, and you NEVER KNOW WHEN I MIGHT NEED THOSE CABLES, OK??
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.

PLEASE, retail workers

from a religious minority living under Christian hegemony year-round

(factcheck: true)

the public space stuff this time of year is a lot

(though I'd 100% take public Christmas but w/national abortion access if playing forced choice, ofc)

PLEASE DO THIS

it is a kindness
When I worked at a bookstore, I quickly learned that people cannot tell the difference between Xmas music and any Baroque or Elizabethan music album that doesn't get too organ-ish. I used this to my advantage.

One customer caught on... AND THANKED ME
If we had to hear “Baby Shark” everywhere we went for two whole months out of the year we’d throw a fit, right?

And rightfully so.

So tell me, why do we put up with it when the song is “Frosty the Snowman”?
