Some good coming out of AI at least
Polyurethane, so useful for making sneakers and mattresses, and such an intractable material to have in the waste stream - until now. A new AI-created enzyme breaks polyurethane down into reusable chemicals in just 12 hours at 50°C, turning it back into raw materials.

Trump's war on solar furloughs 1000

"it’s being penalized by Customs. The US government under Trump says it’s keen on boosting domestic manufacturing. Why would it work against a company that’s onshoring an entire solar supply chain, including recycling?"

Article says China is making more from green energy exports than America from fossil fuels. Bam!!!
One of the less-discussed points Al Gore made in his crusade against fossil fuels was that there was a ton of money to be made in developing alternative sources of energy. But, of course, we were too dumb to listen.
The US is the world's largest oil and gas producer. Yet, "China is now making more money from exporting green technology than America makes from exporting fossil fuels."

In 2024, the planet crossed what many scientists consider a dangerous threshold: It warmed to about 1.55 °C above pre-industrial levels, passing the Paris Agreement’s 1.5 °C threshold. That same year, American utility companies largely failed to do their part to ramp down fossil fuel usage.

The current U.S. government made solar power more expensive and added more red tape to get solar power built. Your electricity will now be more unreliable and more expensive for at least several years.
