Chotiner is a good interviewer and all but every time one of his exchanges goes viral it’s a reminder that virtually no one else in American political journalism turns to a subject after a ludicrous answer and says “wait what?”
Just once I'd like to hear a TV news anchor say, "Sir, that's not true, and if you keep insisting it is, we're going to end this interview to protect our viewers from further disinformation. And we won't invite you back."
HASSETT: Gas prices dropped below $2 a gallon in a lot of places

CORDES: Gas prices on average are still at $3 a galloon

HASSETT: For a few states they got below $2

I wouldn't have wanted that bus to go over Pete, I wouldn't have wanted that
Reporter: If there were a second strike that killed wounded people, would that be legal?

Trump: I don’t know that happened and Pete said he did not even know what people were talking about. I wouldn’t have wanted a second strike. The first strike was very lethal. It was fine.

Credit to Turner and Wicker for actually drawing a line here; he's also tacitly confirming they feel they were lied to, which would further explain why they're coming off the top rope
Rep. Mike Turner on the double strike to comply with Hegseth's orders: "If that occurred, that would be very serious and I agree that would be an illegal act…This is completely outside of anything that has been discussed with Congress and there is an ongoing investigation."

The idea that cable-cutting in the Baltic has stopped because of Baltic Sentry and not for any other reason, and thus that “deterrence is working”, is a logical leap that I sincerely hope is supported by some evidence.

Third shadow fleet tanker apparent recipient of off-the-books sanctions
Russian linked shadow fleet tanker Mersin (IMO 9428683) currently sinking off West Africa.

Fog of war, but seems it was attacked, probably by a USV, in past few days.

Third picture unladen for reference so you can see how low in the water it now is

Canada is diversifying imports too, in particular government/military spending. Trump temporarily cut of military equipment shipments to Ukraine in the spring because Zelensky didn't thank Trump enough. US allies no longer consider the US a reliable military equipment supplier and are diversifying.
When Mark Carney sets specific goals for Canada to "diversify away" from its reliance on the US—making headlines in Canada but not the US—hear that for what it is: Close partners and allies looking elsewhere for better friends.

This is the silent way that the US loses its pointless trade war.

He keeps calling it a ballroom but a ballroom is a place for dancing. What he wants is a gilded Holiday Inn banquet room where businessmen can shmooze, grope the waitresses, see and be seen, and cut crooked deals.
“.. What started as a 500-seat ballroom connected to the East Wing grew to 650 seats. Next, he wanted a 999-seat ballroom, then room for 1,350.” 🤡

Just an evil group of people who'd get absolutely robbed blind by Putin
It’s clear that the primary interest of the US in “peace negotiations” is to create opportunities for Trump, Witkoff, their family members, business partners and cronies to make billions from business deals with Russia, and Ukraine is just the annoying nuisance in the way.

I mean, yeah, but there's not much news there, it's just recycled Russian fever dreams & the feature film of this thing but the script was pretty easy to imagine.

Feel like Americans need to wake up to this.

It's worth remembering how Hegseth rose to prominence within Trump-world in the first place: his vociferous defense of war crimes. During his time at Fox & Friends, he regularly devoted segments calling for the release of US military personnel who committed atrocities.
