I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

Love a lot about this piece. It’s about faulty interoception and mental health (hi!), AND the researcher has a tattoo of the protein that creates the sense of touch. “It was surreal to feel the needle as it was etching the Piezo protein that I was using to feel it.” www.nytimes.com/2025/11/25/s...

Rewatching Veep, one of my all-time favourite shows, which has become aspirational and quaint in our current political climate.

Did they let Trump watch 6 hours straight of the Gorilla Channel before this presser? Or pump him full of Xanax? I've never seen him this agreeable!
A reporter asks if Mamdani stands by calling Trump a fascist. Mamdani starts to give a delicate answer.

Trump (smiles, pats Mamdani's arm): "That's OK, you can just say yes. It's easier. I don't mind."

"Decorum" is one of the ruling classes' more insidious ways of invalidating valid criticism and keeping the peons in line.
I think about "decorum" a lot. Stiles was kicked out for unparliamentary language aka saying something true. Similarly, at Toronto City Council every councillor, left & right, voted to censure one councillor who spoke true: called a lie "a lie". No euphemism. 1/2
Stiles is excellent IMHO, esp getting kicked out of the legislature for speaking the truth yesterday. But the Liberals are just AWOL & useless. Crombie could go scorched earth on her way out but nothing. Just total duds. Explains how they picked 2 Ford-lite leaders in a row. Will they do a 3rd?

TMU (formerly Ryerson) Station ((formerly Dundas Station))

It's a renaming turducken.
Just super ironic to rename a station after a renamed university.

"The cyclists arrive at sunrise, rolling through Chicago’s Latino neighborhoods and stopping at tamale carts, elote stands & candy stalls. They buy out every last item — every tamale, every corn cob, every bundle of sweets. Then they load up the food and deliver it to shelters and families in need."

Toronto Centre is the densest electoral district in the country with 120k residents in just 6sqkm yet some entitled suburban councillor with a shrinking population feels entitled to deciding whether we get much-needed infrastructure or not (hint: it's usually the latter)
This will not be news to regular readers, but it's worth noting whenever Toronto council debates housing (or transportation or neighbourhood amenities) that just three of the 25 wards absorbed three-quarters of the city's population growth between 2016 and 2021

This is the Science Centre all over again. Ford shutters or takes over a public institution because it's near a future transit line and his developer cronies want the land.

Or he wants to build a gigantic parking garage to appease his Therme cronies. Or maybe both!
🚨 BREAKING 🚨

My office just uncovered that, buried in their Fall Economic Statement, Ford’s Conservatives are quietly seizing control of Exhibition Place.

Never forget the same people defending pedophilia have spent years trying to convince the public that drag queens and trans people are a threat to children.

It’s all smoke and mirrors to allow the real predators to roam free.

Ford is making it easier to evict you.

His government’s Bill 60 will make it easier for landlords to evict renters—in the middle of a housing crisis. More families, seniors & low-income tenants will lose their homes.

Take action & sign: www.progresstoronto.ca/stop-fords-e... #onpoli #topoli
Petition: Stop Ford’s plan to make evictions easier — Progress Toronto
Sign petition: Tell Premier Doug Ford, Minister Robert Flack, and your MPP to cancel any changes that make evictions easier, and to protect and expand rent-control.

Pedophilic Regards, your Friend ;)” and instead of swinging from a gibbet most of them are still writing op-eds against leftism

We are so smart(track), we are so smart(track), s-m-r-t.
Councillor Myers: "Just so I have it clear, the city is paying $1.5 billion for these GO Train stations. Who's going to own these assets when they're complete?"

The province, says staff.

Myers: "So the City of Toronto has paid $1.5 billion to build assets for the province."

Staff confirm, yes.
