Cuomo has ran such a racist campaign that I was going to say that if you see him in the city you should hound him about it for the rest of the life but then I remembered that he doesn't live here and probably won't set foot here again after today.

In September I went to Uzbekistan for a week and now you can read about it in the November issue of Artforum. Tl;dr, the art was pretty good and the politics are pretty dicey. www.artforum.com/columns/bukh...

counterpoint, Faun used to be good and then it got a new chef and became bad, at which point regulars (me) stopped eating there.
Prospect Heights became a true restaurant row thanks to the strength of spots like Olmsted, Faun and LaLou. But a spate of closings and skyrocketing rents have many wondering whether the street’s best days are in its past.

I cannot stress enough that Mamdani’s plan is not to freeze all rents but to appoint a Rent Guidelines Board that he can direct to freeze rents on rent stabilized units, as De Blasio did several times.
Too many Dems are like "How will Zohran even freeze rents anyway?" which is a fair question but far smaller in the grand scheme than the real significance of his win: convincing young people the Dem Party is theirs to remake if they just choose to do it
And why the old guard is pissing itself

Generational change is coming: Since Zohran Mamdani won on Tuesday night, more than 1100 young people have reached out to @runforsomething.net to explore a run for local office -- one of our biggest spikes of the year yet.

Unfortunately my brother @voteben.nyc did not win his primary in D4 but my consolation prize is that Rachel Storch spent $500k to come in third.

The cancellation of 123 affordable senior homes at Haven Green is shameful, and only reflects the corruption, dysfunction, and incompetence of the Adams administration.
NEW: The city has decided to let the Elizabeth Street Garden stay for good, according to first deputy mayor Randy Mastro. Councilmember Chris Marte has 'agreed to rezonings in his district' to increase affordable housing in the area, Mastro says. "This is an example of how government should work"

Got a mailer from a PAC trying to influence NYC Council District 4 primary voters (mailing doesn’t mention the district, but includes photos/names of 3 Dist 4 candidates). Top donor to the PAC is Bill Ackman. Surefire way to remind me not to rank *any* of those (his) candidates.

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

I have many undiplomatic thoughts about the upcoming NYC elections that I'm keeping to myself so I won't embarrass my brother @voteben.nyc, the best candidate for city council district 4, but I will say that he too has the endorsement of a very influential family member (my toddler).
