“I’m not familiar with the facts or circumstsnces”: the one thing that members of Congress get paid to do — one thing! — is to keep aware of national and world affairs.

Schmitt, Johnson, and fellow Republicans keep saying “I don’t know” as if they weren’t flaunting their incompetence. It’s absurd.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Do you support the pardon of the former Honduran president?

SCHMITT: I'm not familiar w/ the facts or circumstances

S: What do you mean you're not familiar? It's been front page news

SCHMITT: You spew Democrat talking points every single week, which is why your ratings are so bad

Without Birthright Citizenship, you too could be ripped from your home in the middle of the night.

Without the Equal Protection, the Privilege and Immunities and the Due Process Clauses, you and everyone you love could be declared subhuman and stripped of your most basic and fundamental freedoms.

this gets to the fundamental lawlessness. the difference between law as a game and law as a tool of government.

birthright citizenship is the law. nothing has changed. the documents are the same. if that can change based on *nothing*, you don't have a real constitution in the first place.
also, let’s say wurman is right. well, we have had nearly 160 years of unlimited birthright citizenship that has been affirmed again and again by generations of Americans. whatever the original intent, that is what the birthright clause *means*.

Without birthright citizenship, who is a citizen? Am I a citizen? I was born here, but never took the test and everything immigrants do. My parents and grandparents, the same, but all four of my great-grandparents on my mom’s side were immigrants. Who & how to decide?
A neat thing about birthright citizenship is how it tests whether a person cares at all about the Constitution. There's no argument against it, birthright citizenship is the unambitious text, the obvious intent of the drafters, and the undisputed way it was followed for the past 150+ years.
I continue to think that Matty coming out against birthright citizenship a few months ago should have been taken as a major warning sign that the group chats have already decided to surrender on this.

Elon Musk is worse at hiding it but this is the problem with all billionaires: they are a threat to democratic governance. They have an insatiable need to own and control everything. If you want to be free you have to curb their power, and demand political leaders who understand that

I can't stop thinking about the purported drug smugglers being murdered by the US military. The punishment for drug offenses isn't the death penalty. This is just bloodlust and men in suits playing with lives they don't care about. It's truly grotesque and gravely compromises this country.

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

Five corporations control 90% of the US media market.

Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Four giants control 80% of meat processing.

The evidence of corporate consolidation is everywhere.

It means more power for them and less freedom for you.
Netflix's $83 billion takeover of Warner Bros Discovery would mean more corporate consolidation.

Netflix, by far the #1 streamer, would take over HBO Max, the #3 streaming service.

This giant merger could violate antitrust law and hurt consumers.

Using race to help minorities? Bad. Using it to discriminate against them? Very, very good.
