Mike Johnson compellingly making the case for abolishing ICE ...
Mike Johnson: "ICE is doing what ICE is designed to do"
Mike Johnson comes out against additional guardrails on ICE as Democrats call for it.

“I think there's a lot of Democrats playing games right now with national security and with law enforcement. And I think it's dangerous. Ice is doing what ice is designed to do by its very name.”

i think it’s pretty fair to consider CBS straight fascist government media, trumps administration is clearly drip feeding them narratives and “scoops” and obviously CBS will run them with zero regard for fact

ICE took a cell phone. Cops on Atlanta took over $100 million from travelers, mostly Black, and didn't even pretend to charge most of them with a crime.

So yes, cops do beat up 10th graders. And cops do steal cash and other items of value from innocent people.

Unfortunately, this is the part where I remind people that Black 10th graders get beat up by cops every day.

This is the part where I remind people about modern civil asset forfeiture, where US police steal more value from people (mostly Black) than every form of theft other than wage theft.
It is in no way “law enforcement” to beat up an American 10th grader and steal and sell his possessions.
This is 10th-grader Arnoldo Bazan.

A citizen.

Immigration agents grabbed him and put him in a chokehold.

"We're from the United States bro!' he screamed.

Agents took and sold his phone

And when he finally got home hours later, his shirt was ripped, he neck had angry, red welts, and he sobbed.

This article is a must-read. It matches my own experience of seeing conservative judges go from often siding with trans plaintiffs prior to 2021 to being outwardly hostile. Judges don't live in a hermetically sealed chamber. They absorbed anti-trans propaganda.

How the Conservative Movement’s Anti-Trans Crusade Brought the Supreme Court to Heel
Six years ago, the Court issued a landmark decision protecting the civil rights of trans people. Republicans set about making sure that that would never happen again.

They beat up a tenth grader! (Who is a US citizen, but it shouldn’t matter, why the fuck do you beat up a kid.)

They stole his phone and tried to resell it!
Yes, immigration agents not only took Arnoldo's phone, the 10th grader had to use Find My Phone to locate it — in a vending machine for used electronics, close to an ICE detention center.

Just to be clear about what's happening w CBS News:

Larry Ellison is acquiring a media empire to spread right-wing, billionaire-enabling, hypercapitalist propaganda.

He purchased Paramount to get CBS. He's taking over US TikTok next week. He's attempting a hostile takeover of WBD to control CNN.

There was a discussion on here - argument really - about the utility of "posting as praxis" and since it's been quiet on that front and I never wanted people to take a comment personally from me, I think I can weigh in and give what I hope is a dialectical approach to speech on the internet briefly.

Sen. Maggie Hassan just disclosed her own experience with miscarriage, too.

She calls the hearing "gaslighting at the highest level," pointing out the long history of men hurting women to end their pregnancies, which can't be blamed on mifepristone.

just a really good essay from bhatt on how antifeminism has used nationalism to dress itself up as feminism--and why this is so tightly connected with debates about heteropessimism and, ultimately, the love/hate relationship with lesbian feminists

"do i hate her or do i want to be her"

"yes"
@taliabhatt.itch.io remains one of the most exciting feminists working today, and now she's back cutting right into a queasy seam of the contemporary consensus--namely, the way that feminists and leftists "reconciled" themselves, and why it might be
