More of this kind of rich person, please.
It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

when one of the only two pro hockey players (neither NHL-level) who have come out, who now spends his career *trying* to change hockey culture, said that he loves the show but that it isn’t going to change the conformity & toxic hypermasculinity in hockey, fans acted offended or like he attacked it
Gay pro hockey player Brock McGillis lived 'Heated Rivalry' - Outsports
For Brock McGillis, 'Heated Rivalry' is validating, deeply triggering and widely misunderstood. It's entertainment, people!

There are people doing the long, hard, unglamorous work of trying to shift things for the better in male sports cultures, particularly in hockey. It is a disservice to their efforts to pretend that real systemic problems can/have been solved by a six-episode TV show.

one thing that is important to know is that BIRTH OF A NATION is so racist that people at the *time*, in 1915, were like, “holy shit this is racist”
When the slightest bit of research shows he was consistently racist and a daddy issues Confederate fanboy.

People try to paint BIRTH OF A NATION as a masterpiece with some unfortunate racism. The whole movie is racist, the “masterpiece “ thing was backfilled to excuse it.

A quantified explanation for why women make up more than 50% of biomedical graduate student cohorts but occupy only about 1/3 of faculty positions 🧪
People are willing to forgo a significant portion of their earnings—between 12-36% of their wages—to avoid hostile work environments.

Women exhibit a stronger aversion to exclusionary workplaces and environments with sexual harassment.

“When necessary”

Great, it’s already necessary and you’re already in the midst of a work stoppage no matter what the PR spin says at the end. The offseason is on hold. The expansion draft probably shoud’ve happened weeks ago and doesn’t even have rules in place yet. Work has stopped.

we have a really good dev rel engineer here throwing himself to (i would say) a small number of very loud, hungry wolves because the new ceo did (i would also say) a very weird announcement that sounded like it was written in 2024 by an ai startup
Something that hasn't been made clear: Firefox will have an option to completely disable all AI features.

We've been calling it the AI kill switch internally. I'm sure it'll ship with a less murderous name, but that's how seriously and absolutely we're taking this.

The only way you can still pretend that Reagan was good is if you believe in his policies or don’t believe in anything at all. Either one is disqualifying.
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

Grading and googling hallucinated citations, as one does nowadays, and now that LLMs have been around for a while, I've discovered new horrors: hallucinated journals are now appearing in Google Scholar with dozens of citations bc so many people are citing these fake things
