A Maine woman retired early to be a caregiver for her terminally ill mother.

Now she’s facing cancer herself, and because ACA subsidies won’t be extended, she is losing her healthcare.

Her costs are going up for $49,000 a year.

This isn’t healthcare, it’s eugenics.

Medicare for all.

It doesn't matter if they are ever coming for you.

It was always ever already too much that they were coming for anyone.

The Medicaid changes won’t go into effect until after midterms in 2027, which kinda says to me that this administration doesn’t want people to remember who did this to them.

I am literally only alive to write and teach on health policy/politics because of Medicaid.
I grew up in rural South Carolina with a single mom who worked multiple jobs. At times, we relied on Medicaid and SNAP—like so many others. My heart breaks for those now wondering if that help will still be there.

Imagine having all that power and choosing to make people’s lives worse.

Shameful.

We were very close to New York state passing a mask ban in its budget bill.
Some ppl are being arrested for wearing medical masks. And ppl think that this is bc of some Trump EO and not bc local ordinances have been passed, often by Dems.

They get pissed off.

overrated/counterproductive AI risks:

- copyright
- resource usage
- sophistry around “inherent” limitations proven wrong a month later

underrated (in order of immediacy):

- surveillance acceleration
- persuasion (incl delusion) acceleration
- existential risk

@npr.org for every minute spent talking to a non-autistic person about autistic people's needs, you should be giving at least 2x that amount to actually autistic people— & not just in written stories, but on-air.

Apply said rubric to any other group under attack right now for their lived realities.

Charoset, a paste made of ground apples, is found on the Passover seder plate to remind us of the mortar used by the Israelites when they were slaves in Egypt. Let's remember farm workers who do the hard work so we have apples on our tables. #WeFeedYou

The right for autistic people with intellectual disabilities (and other disabled people) to live outside of institutions was only granted by the US Supreme Court in 1999.
Perioidic reminder that the reason you didn't see autistic people with intellectual disabilities on the street five decades ago was not because they didn't exist. It's because they were sent away to institutions and their parents were told to put away pictures of them.
