I just saw someone yell “they’re just using it to generate ideas!”

And

I hate to say it

But if you work in the ART DEPARTMENT and you need a death machine stuffed with your colleagues’ work to give you ideas

Quit.

AI artwork not welcome at Larian, unless you work there, apparently.

If the issue is that finding references to express an idea is hard, the solution should be a better search tool not content theft.
The thing thats so insidious about using AI this way is that one of the main ways artists get hired are studios looking for art references and they find us and reach out.

This is removing a major avenue to get work if they can just generate nameless derivations of our ideas.

I swear to fucking god mozilla, *everyone hates this idea*. Do NOT succumb to The Fear & the Monetization Disease. You don't need to have a "modern AI browser", at all, ever. You need to be th comany that respects user privacy, meaningful consent, & choice; the one w/ The Browser That Fucking Works

"We use AI tools to explore references, just like we use google and art books" Are you using chatgpt as a glorified search engine?

If they're world class artists then they don't need ai for references because they already have those skills developed. This is what I don't get about including ai

It looks like everyone needs a new favourite Gary Brennan. Any volunteers?
well, needless to say he's not interested in educating himself about generative AI and would rather conflate pushback with "bluesky scolding"

oh well, sucks to suck i guess

Icelandic folklore tells of the Yule Cat that terrorizes children if they don't have new socks for Christmas.

folklore does not specify whether the Yule Cat is adorable or not, tho. ❤️🐈‍⬛

@garybrannan.bsky.social how do Telegraph readers feel about samosa butties?
I just don't need to know what the Telegraph has written about Dungeons & Dragons. It's a newspaper for people who are frightened of samosas.

BTW, if you're legitimately pissed off at Marvel for the whole "let's make a victim of sexual violence a happy subservient to her abuser" thing, the BEST way to affect change is withholding your money.

Let that whole event bomb sales wise.

Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

p.s. also congrats 🎊

My sleepy brain misinterpreted DST as Deep Space Tyne, and now I'm stuck thinking of an alternate universe where the Bajorans have Geordie accents/dialects.
I don't really mind DST except for the part where you're forced to interact with various household objects presenting the worst UI imaginable

It's pretty easy to cancel your Disney+ subscription, and a coordinated, national day of cancellations would send a very clear message about our values as Americans.
Heard from a friend at Disney+ that there are multiple levels of freakout internally, both from internal dissatisfaction, concerns about subscription cancelations, and of course the big one: concern about a boycott spilling over into parks and cruises.

It's seven years since we posted on Twitter about how kids kept coming into the library asking if we had any books about FORTNITE. We didn't back then, and we'd never heard of it so we tried asking what it was.

Hi authors! Please remember to file a claim!
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
