They’re opposed to preventative healthcare policy because they believe they’re an intervention in the natural eugenic hierarchy, framing this as an issue of “government overreach” while they’re literally banning healthcare for disfavored groups assists in that effort.
California now requires corn masa flour to contain folic acid to reduce birth defects among Latinos. Public health officials have lauded these efforts, but some conservatives say it’s another form of government overreach.

Hello Tim Cook I worked at Tumblr when you gave us 48 hours to get rid of all the consenting, adult boobs. Up all night at your whim, out of the blue. But you're still cool with Twitter and its CSAM and revenge porn and whatever the fuck this is? Why do you even HAVE guidelines?
Previously, several of these companies, like Apple, IBM, and Disney, have paused advertising on X in response to antisemitic content. But antisemitism on X never slowed, sexual abuse imagery increased, and all of these companies quietly resumed advertising anyways.

Why isn't there a bigger Grok boycott?
Advertisers, politicians, and investors are still all-in on X, despite a sexual abuse crisis.

OK, this is extremely cool. Comparable to the alligator bungie genitalia or the lid that keeps tarsiers' eyes in their head when they jump!

Activists in more and more cities are pressuring local elected officials to rethink their automated license plate reader contracts, or at least to put more solid privacy protections and accountability in place, EFF’s Rin Alajaji told @AZMirror.com.

"If I did not resign that day, I was told that the DOJ would
extract/block hundreds of millions of dollars from UVA before they would even negotiate."

We live in a mafia state.
Former UVA president Jim Ryan, who resigned over the summer due to pressure from the Trump Administration, just shared this 12-page letter with the Faculty Senate, detailing his experience with the Board of Visitors and DOJ.

It's a surreal--and troubling--read.

What should be the most serious, urgent talks on the planet continue to be a farce.

Bluesky hire a comms specialist challenge 2025 is still ongoing (please, you guys desperately need a comms and public relations specialist)
Agreed. Moderators (and users) should not have to check every death threat against song lyrics or movie quotes.

AND, Bluesky needs better comms - esp re big accounts. If they had been timely & clear about the problem post and stated it was a 3-day warning suspension, this wouldn’t have escalated.
