There are a lot of Americans currently complicit in fascism here… reminds me of people talking about “good Germans” and implying that the good people were either common or rare during ww2. In reality ppl seem to change the standards and have convenient losses of memory when a regime leaves power.

One more observation about what #Finlandization was in practice: it was a foreign minister of #Finland recommending to a foreign power - in his official reply to a demarche, no less! - that foreign #intelligence services should covertly influence, pressure and manipulate Finnish media.
The Minister, Paavo Väyrynen, regretted that under peacetime legislation, the government could not curb such expressions. However, the Finnish government would try to influence the media by public statements. Väyrynen also proposed the Soviet embassy to directly address media through its "contacts."
