One thing this election made very clear: Establishment Democrats don't disagree about Republican policies. They just take issue (sometimes) to the degree that Republicans want to go in on their policies.
something that is particularly galling about this is that Democrats have had a front row seat to one of the most effective tactics in political history: Mitch McConnell's successful effort to hurt Dems by refusing them cooperation on anything at all

and somehow they don't want to replicate it
... what we absolutely need is Dem politician who wake up every morning thinking 1) "How do I advance the good of the people" and 2) "How do I fuck Republicans so they don't win elections and stop me from advancing the good of the people?"

Invariably, studies have found that breaking with parents is a last resort for young people.

These articles endorse a parent's right to abuse their kid, or be a hateful person who is a misery to be around and have a forgive-and-forget, grin-and-bear-it relationship later.
Yeah, no thanks.

Stop guilting people about being estranged from family members. It someone is they likely have personal reasons for being so.

Hey new followers this is why so many 10k+ accounts wrote off bsky. You can't just farm numbers we have humans here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The way stuff gets around on bsky is more like tumblr (reblogs and tags) than an algorithm pushing posts.

Like tumblr, hashtags are used for looking through people's work. Press and hold a tag to get options

You can also post links without getting deboosted

Anime Youtuber Stevem has made a video on Crunchyroll's enshittification efforts! www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJqZ...

As a reminder, amids all the AI dub captions and whatnot, CR still intends to move forward with killing Aegisub in favor of OOONA. I will be monitoring the new season closely re: this.

While the plagiarism and anti-labor aspects of AI are obviously super bad, this is an aspect that imo we really need to push more re: anti-AI messaging.

its propping up climate-destroying industries and is a MASSIVE resource drain at a time where our resources should really be used more wisely
“They only use genAI for internal use”

“It’s just for generating some ideas, it’s not even really more efficient”

Did you know our government under the Biden administration allowed a CEO to basically dictate a public health policy that has likely played an important role in your or a loved one’s long term health? It’s true, sadly. #COVID

Daily reminder that the underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.
Anyway, AI has already stolen friends’ work, and is going to put other people out of work.

I do not think a political party that claims to be the party of workers in this country should be using it. Even for just a silly joke.

It never ceases to blow my mind that so many tech, sci-fi, futurism backers ended up swinging so far right. Did they entirely miss the point of the sci-fi novels? That identity, self, personal exploration is something we can nurture and grow? It's like instead they said, "no we like the dystopia."

Hate the argument of "Well you can boycott for now, but soon every game studio is going to use genAI and you won't be able to tell or avoid it anymore!!"

dude there are already more videogames in existence than I'm ever going to be able to play in my lifetime. this boycott shit is easy.

From 2018 to 2024, the tax rate paid by eight major retailers was slashed from 30% to just 17.5%.

The CEOs of those major retailers were paid a collective $1.3 billion.

Meanwhile, the average worker at those stores was paid less than $32,000 in 2024.

Nothing trickled down.
