There's a misguided belief that so long as the system is crafted well enough the output of the system will always be just, and libs want to believe we have that system. The problem is there is no system that can be conceived by man that cannot also be corrupted by man.

What she's talking about haunts me. I'm shelter, the person on the corner isn't. I can pay for something (maybe) in an emergency, they can't. I can get treats and simple pleasures some times that are beyond their means. It's suffocating, paralyzing. It's enough to numb your heart.
Have we not eaten while another starved? Will you punish us for that? Will you reward us for the virtue of starving while others ate? No man earns punishment, no man earns reward. Free your mind of the idea of deserving, the idea of earning, and you will begin to be able to think

Do you see how an act is not, as young men think, like a rock that one picks up and throws, and it hits or misses, and that's the end of it. When that rock is lifted, the earth is lighter; the hand that bears it heavier.

will also add - yes, this is my personal crusade - that turning podcasts into videos implicitly asks women to once again make more effort than men, as the bar for "camera-ready" for one gender is obviously higher than for the other

This is a structural problem that can't be solved within parliament.

The function of centre-left parties is to be the responsible manager of society, so that the extraction of profit can continue.

People saw the Labour response to covid and thought hey maybe they can do radical things
If Labour truly - as I've been told and told and TOLD for at least a decade - wants to do what it takes to get into power and earn the political capital to reform our broken systems, literally the worst thing they can do is cut off the other left parties in order to paint themselves as Sensible

This is so perplexing given that Northsky, from what I understand, is largely being created by trans people? I suspect this "controversy" is being created/amplified by bad actors because trans people are successfully creating a safer space for themselves. Northsky, never stop! We love you!

Being a class member against Anthropic is nice and all I guess but I don’t want settlement money, I want the book I carved out of my trauma as a warning against unregulated tech to be taken out of the machine that pollutes small towns to encourage people to kill themselves

Anybody ells getting this on their profile? I wonder if it is because of migrating my PDS from bsky to blacksky. @sharpiepls.com have you seen this before? I used tektite and an alternative domain from that website that offers them for free (can't find it now or remember the domain).

Not exactly cuz it's open source. Signal, proton, Germ Network are all open source and private. It's because they decided to make the network "Locked open" to maximize interoperability and the potential for decentralization. Terrible side effect is the absolute lack of privacy.

I tried to hold my nose and give Microsoft money but I just couldn't do it. So I switched back to Linux Mint. Linux is still frustrating sometimes but a lot less so than last time I had it 4ish years ago. And it's quite relieving to know my OS isn't actively hostile to my interests.

Absolutely this. I'd add that many conspiracy movements focused on women's health exist because the medical establishment has completely failed women. I know so many people whose doctors drove them to strange behavior in desperation.
Please hear me when I say that

1) these anti-medical woo birth movements have been a primary feeder into anti-vaxx eugenic movements

2) they pre-date the age of social media

3) they exist because we have not addressed medical sexism and specifically obstetric violence
Influencers made millions pushing ‘wild’ births – now the Free Birth Society is linked to baby deaths around the world

"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Why would you go to a separate website, login, and check a ledger that lists who precisely has blocked you on this website and when?? Do you also stare deeply into port-a-potty toilet holes? Just gazing at the kind of abyss that can never gaze back because its eyes are crusted shut.

“Why are men afraid of women?”
“If your strength is only the other's weakness, you live in fear,” Ged said.
“Yes; but women seem to fear their own strength, to be afraid of themselves.”
“Are they ever taught to trust themselves?” Ged asked
“No,” she said.

I’ve never much cared for the argument that undocumented immigrants deserve respect because they’re “hardworking” or that they take the jobs no one else wants. That feels ick, because it diminishes people’s worth to what can be produced for the capitalist machine.

They’re human beings. They deserve
