One court decision, two different headlines.

Guardian on the left, NY Times on the right. Which one more directly conveys information and the stakes to the reader?

Hopeful news/details
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

Immediate punishment for speaking out against the regime.
Mischief Toy Store in St. Paul has until Wednesday to turn over employment records to the Department of Homeland Security as part of a surprise audit launched Friday, just hours after one of the shop's owners criticized ICE agents during a television interview. bit.ly/4r5AFol

This from @andreapitzer.bsky.social is key.

“nobody sane now thinks the answer to abuses at Dachau was to give the guards more training.”
I wrote about how concentration camp regimes evolve and why it's not too late to stop this, even though we are deep in it now.
Into the abyss
The correct response to Dachau was not better training for the guards.

I like that the same day a guy was like “this place will never be Twitter” this thread gave us the most 2015 Twitter experience (complimentary) imaginable.
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place

Indiana was the worst team in college football for 150 years and then they let you start paying players and they immediately became No. 1 and the only conclusion one can draw is they were the only ones who didn’t realize you could pay players under the table for the first 150 years.

Cougs help neighbors
The Gonzaga Bulldogs moved up a spot in the new men's basketball AP Top 25 after a pair of wins last week, both of which came without the injured Braden Huff, and the second of which also saw fellow star forward Graham Ike sit out with an injury.

Frey has been asked about this way more than Trump has been asked why he has invaded an American city based on false pretenses, where rogue secret police are kidnapping and killing people.
KARL: In the hours after the shooting of Renee Good, you went on national TV and said to ICE, 'get the F out of Minneapolis.' Do you regret that language? That doesn't sound like turning the temperature down

JACOB FREY: I don't regret it at all. If I seemed like I was angry and frustrated, I was.

If you knee a defenseless person in the face so many times your buddy has to tell you to stop kneeing him in the face and then you knee him in the face again, you are a bad person.
More unaccountable thuggery, via the AP Twitter account. After being screamed at not to knee him in the face, the agent...knees him in the face again. See for yourself

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.
