Absolutely horrific details about an ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

A witness says a woman was trying to drive away from an ICE operation and the ICE agent "reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times."

Emily Heller lives near 33rd and Portland and said she woke up to a commotion outside her home. She said she saw a car blocking traffic on Portland Avenue that appeared to be part of a protest against federal law enforcement operations. Heller said she heard ICE agents telling the driver, a woman, to “get out of here.” “She was trying to turn around, and the ICE agent was in front of her car, and he pulled out a gun and put it right in — like, his midriff was on her bumper — and he reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times,” Heller said. Heller said it appeared the woman then accelerated and traveled about 100 feet before striking a utility pole and some other vehicles. She could be seen slumped over inside her car.

Then the cat disappeared. Days passed, and she feared the worst. On Saturday, Elainie saw the cat again and immediately contacted us. Today, Sheila brought her a trap, and thanks to Elainie’s patience and care, the cat was safely trapped within about an hour. That alone is remarkable—and a testament to how much people in our community care about the animals on this island. This cat is in critical condition. They have lost part of a leg, and the bone is exposed. Tomorrow we are bringing them to Progressive Veterinary Hospital, hoping that amputation is possible and that we can give them a real chance to survive. If surgery can be done, we will also need a safe place for recovery—either continued veterinary care or a quiet home where the cat can heal in a large crate. We don’t yet know what the outcome will be. What we do know is that this cat deserves compassion, dignity, and every chance we can give. We are asking for help to cover: • Emergency veterinary care • Possible amputation surgery • Post-op care, medication, and recovery needs This is hopefully our last plea for funds before the new year, and all donations are tax-deductible. Been thinking on the use of GenAi for mood boards. Ethics and legal risks aside, I truly believe using GenAi as references deprives one of many pivotal things.

Here’s a blurb on what I mean:
Some thoughts: When using GenAi as a mood board you don't get sources. This means you deprive yourself from knowledge. You generated a location? You deprived yourself of knowing more about the interesting parts of the world and why things came to be. Generate an armor or costume? You deprived yourself on real world techniques, function, form and history. You generated art inspirations? You deprive yourself of learning about artists from history or lock out living ones from potentially being hired. Ethical issues of using GenAi models aside, one ends up making visuals mood boards devoid of reality and history. With it one deprives themselves from learning about our world and who is living in it, inadvertently making your work weaker, because of how detached it is from our shared human reality and history.
