I went to my mom's neighborhood last week and I was telling her and my sister how it felt so quiet. Usually we can hear people and music from her porch, but I didn't hear much that day. Walking there, it felt eerily quiet. So much life and vibrancy in our nhoods that is endangered rn.

fucking wild that a partisan program of, say, deploying state security to purge the nation of immigrants or legislate trans people to premature death can be pretensed as a contribution to salutary democratic debate and not as something that might cause us to reflect on the term “political violence”

going on out a limb here to say that all murder is political and that if your vision of politics structurally necessitates and even discursively celebrates murder while disavowing it as murder or political that is bad

What’s more, in the latter case, the population in question is not officially considered a “race,” so ICE can use skin color and language to target Latine immigrants and claim it’s not racism. Higher order racecraft.
SCOTUS: considering race as one factor in a college applicant's file is blatantly unconstitutional

ALSO SCOTUS: considering race as one factor in targeting whom to detain and deport is cool cool cool

There is no hell deep enough to contain the people involved with this
Kristi Noem has been working with the producer of “Duck Dynasty” to pitch a reality TV show—titled “The American”—where immigrants will compete in a string of challenges across the country “for the honor of fast-tracking their way to U.S. citizenship,” according to a new report.
Noem Plots Reality Show Where Migrants Fight for Citizenship
A Homeland Security official told the Daily Beast that the show is in the early stages of vetting, though approval has not been given—or denied.

This, from a woman in Oklahoma talking to her local news station, is better than the vast majority of political speeches you'll hear today.
A horrible story but god bless this woman so accurately reading the ICE goons for filth here

I was actively not prepared for how truly evil some of this shit would be. Just the vilest kind of online rhetoric now being used as official positions. Incapable of shame or empathy or anything human, reveling in the sadism of it. These are the most disgusting times I've ever lived through.

The antidote to totalitarianism, recorded by those who lived through it, is associational life. De-atomization, and the creation of loyalties to other people that can’t be, or simply aren’t, coordinated with a regime.
