Decided to read this at the Kerry Association poetry and song event this evening. Reminds us that in these beleaguered time there are many good people among us. #spéirghorm

It's only three months since the Irish commentariat were having dramatic fainting fits because Catherine Connolly mentioned US imperialism. Simultaneously pretending they'd never before heard the phrase "military-industrial complex".

In Ireland
• Nature is haemorrhaging
• Water bodies are sick and dying
• Greenhouse gas emissions from land are soaring
• Flooding is ever more catastrophic
• Etc...

Because we've turned nearly all wild, natural habitat into barren monocultures of grass or shitka.

Mass REWILDING is the solution.

I can’t quite put it into words yet, but something is happening, a kind of global singularity—a fusion of tech/media/news/government/employment which allows the global elite to push single agendas: “You WILL care about Charlie Kirk. You will NOT care about Palestine. You WILL fear cancel culture.”
Think we are up to 8 bbc news alerts about charlie kirk.

graphite is carbon, compressed over high pressure over millions of years and transformed not into coal or diamond but into something even more precious, a pencil, into graphite, which can record everything you've known and seen . . . It is a greater miracle than diamonds

Lest we forget that leading Holocaust historian, Israeli scholar Raz Segal, called Israel's campaign in Gaza 'a textbook case of genocide' as early as 13 October 2023. Palestinians on the ground relayed this horrific reality from the beginning. Why is it only now that many are starting to speak out?

A devastatingly accurate and rightfully angry piece from
Colin Sheridan.

"He weighed..less than half what is normal on average. The boy had not grown any teeth...and was too weak to cry...The decapitated babies...The dogs eating the dead...The parents picking up the mangled flesh of their children"

For those who don't know this story, which I first shared six years ago today....

This one time I got my days wrong at work and ended up alone in a room with my boss and the President of Ireland while I was on ketamine.

if Micheál Martin is worried about people supporting terror and violence, he might do literally one thing – one solitary single thing – about his own government's complicity in the genocide he claims to oppose

During a recent trip to Ireland, @franceskalbs.bsky.social held a mirror up to the media & asked if we were reporting accurately on Gaza. The clear answer is no.

As I write in The Currency this morning, we are failing Palestinians, the international order & our own profession:

I said it from the beginning, theMother and Baby Home redress scheme was designed in order to save money. Shameful but entirely predictable from @greenpartyie.bsky.social @fiannafailparty.bsky.social and Fine Gael www.thejournal.ie/mother-and-b...
Only 7% of mother and baby home redress budget spent one year after applications opened
An MEP said the underspend shows that the exclusion of thousands of survivors from the scheme was an unneccesary “punitive measure”.

It's a sign of the times that callousness is now dressed up as intellectualism. That empathy is framed as being as morally problematic as prejudice. That bigotry and hatred is just honesty. That solidarity is treason.
