The real tea is that August Wilson was more ambitious than Shakespeare and a better playwright, in my (correct) opinion. The gift of Shakespeare’s work is that he gave us many turns of phrase we now take for granted. But August Wilson gave us our souls back.

I have some news…

For the next school year, I will be the artist-in-residence at Harvard Medical School as part of the MS program in Media, Medicine and Health. This fall, I’m teaching a course on how the memoir functions within systems of power. I’m excited, nervous and ready to make good trouble.

I'm not sure there's ever been a career revival like Nicholas Cage's, where he's doing tons of work and throwing everything against the wall (many have tried this) but about 10% of the resulting films actually stick as all-timers (that's the part that's not been done).
