USCIS canceled my client’s naturalization oath ceremony. We filed a lawsuit, went to trial, and the judge swore him in right there in the courtroom!

Grand Avenue has LA's best architecture clumped haphazardly along a very bleak street. Yet Frank Gehry had a vision to change that.

"You close that piece of Grand Avenue, put some chairs out there and you've got something special," he said. "We're not just building buildings, we're building places"
The Grand scheme
This is the downtown that Frank Gehry wanted. When will LA's leaders give it to us?

RIP Frank Gehry.

One of my fave things of working at LAT when it was downtown was looking up Bunker Hill and seeing the sun hit the stainless steel sails of Disney Hall.

Trump hires new White House ballroom architect
Although the two had clashed over the size of the project, the decisive factor was the small firm’s limited capacity to handle such an enormous project.

Trump wants a bigger White House ballroom. His architect disagrees.
The president and James McCrery had argued in recent weeks over the project’s size, with Trump pushing him to expand the ballroom.

God bless your city and mine.
1. In the wake on Mamdani’s win, we’ll see a lot more far right anti-urban sentiment. Here’s a thread on its roots and evolution.

The idea that the city is evil and corrupt, and the countryside innocent and pure, goes back a long way: to Theocritus in Alexandria, and to the Old Testament. 🧵

No, Mr. Betsky. The bigger issue is not that the 'White House is not... a particularly good building. The bigger issue is that a lawless POTUS & a member of our profession has destroyed a feature of a national park.
