yep. i can identify any number of structural issues but at the end of the day the basic problem is the republican party. this has been apparent for at least 20 years. it is also an incredibly unpopular observation to make among “serious” people.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests

you don't need to add caveats agreeing that the head of state abducted is a bad guy before opposing abduction of a head of state by military force. If the rule was any head of government is fair game then the entire world would be a series of decapitation strikes and show trials in foreign courts.

Ohio State victories are a moral evil because nobody is happy afterwards. If you give Alabama fans an undefeated season and their workhorse back a Heisman they'll at least feel satisfaction. These guys win as a double-digit favorite and want the Detroit Lions to apologize for once firing their DC.
