🍁AUTUMN AT KYŌTO'S GREAT WALL🧱

During fall Kitano Tenmangū allows guests to enjoy the maples that grow along the Odoi (御土居). Now mostly leveled, this great berm was created by Toyotomi Hideyoshi to encircle and define the boundaries of the city.

I have never really been one for the black friday weekend buying spree, I usually avoid it like other people’s used snotrags.

I guess if I had to drop a chunk of change this weekend, I would rather it be at my local vet taking care of a loved one than at a big box store full of stuff I don’t need.

Freelance illustration gigs drying up. Ad agencies using Midjourney instead of hiring human artists. Costume design turned over to AI wholesale. Good work vanishing.

These are the stories of working visual artists, who describe losing jobs, wages, and hope as their clients and bosses embrace AI.
Artists are losing work, wages, and hope as bosses and clients embrace AI
Visual artists, illustrators and graphic designers share their stories about how AI is being used to lower wages, degrade work and even replace it altogether, in this installment of AI Killed My Job.

OpenAI Loses Key Discovery Battle as It Cedes Ground to Authors in AI Lawsuits
The issue has been a major battleground in discovery. OpenAI could be on the hook for hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars if it was aware it was infringing on copyrighted material.

Our darling elderly cat, Doom Kitty is refusing food and vomiting froth, and now we watch the clock tick down to the vet appointment (54min to go).
Would love any prayers, positive thoughts and happy wishes ya got.

The era we are living in offers too many illustrations of greed, narcissism, and hatefulness. But I still believe we can recommit ourselves to serving the common good of all Americans. [Artwork by Jennifer Bloomer]

These guys are great! I donate every year and may I suggest that some of the crafts they sell on behalf of the elders make great Christmas presents?
Time once again to rep my favorite place for giving: anelder.org - they supply food, firewood and supplies for traditional crafting to Navajo Elders. If you have the cash, please give these folks a hand.

Leaders who embrace art and creative fields are THE BEST.

Art is culture is life.

Without it, we live in cinderblock houses and listen to AI propaganda radio.
New York City helped my mother become the artist she is today. The next generation deserves a City Hall that lifts up tomorrow's artists as well.

Have you created your content to be consumed today? You must make internet filler.

Or make cool stuff for yourself, don’t show anyone. Just do it for you and learn from it. Or show people. But don’t call it content. It deserves more respect than that

I'm going to do a little thread on how the money from books works for traditionally published authors because people have questions, and this is always useful info to share IMO. First, a big disclaimer that every contract is different, and there are a million factors that can change things. 1/

We’d like to end today with a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt:

We do not have to become heroes overnight. Just a step at a time, meeting each thing that comes up, seeing it as not as dreadful as it appears, discovering that we have the strength to stare it down.

Just keep going. Goodnight, heroes.

Remember your favorite creator possibly might be struggling with imposter syndrome and doubt and this timeline sucks.. so if you find yourself thinking “wow I really relate to this persons work” or that persons work gives you joy, you should probably tell them. It’s a hard time to be a creative.

Hey artists- if you are struggling with depression or feeling overwhelmed with all the darkness that has erased the desire to keep making art, its ok.

Me too.
