the most delightful version of logging on to see what news you've missed
Dr Ramsdell, whose phone had been on airplane mode when the Nobel committee tried to call him, told the BBC's Newshour Programme that his first response when his wife said, "You've won the Nobel prize" was: "I did not."

To which Ms O'Neill replied that she had 200 text messages that suggested he had.

@jusher.bsky.social Do you recall the number of SNPs between your C. glabrata a & alpha sexual strains?

I'm curious if there's enough to have YMAP visualize the haplotypes present in your recombinant strains.

I keep going back and looking at this picture. It seems, no matter what topic I'm working with, I really like bright, saturated colors.

2076:

Historian: the 2nd Amendment remained strong throughout American history.

James Madison: Huzzah!

H: An authoritarian government rose in the 2020s.

JM: But it was quashed by the armed citizens as intended!

H: Well, actually, all the heavily armed folk sided with the authoritarians...

Central to the in-development YMAP2 is processing long-read data.

Until that is published, feel free to reach out to me for a collaboration if you have some long-read data that needs to be processed.
thebiologistisn.bsky.social
The recent issues that the YMAP server has been having were due to incompatible long-read datasets being uploaded, leading to extreme memory utilization and the web server crashing.

YMAP will now produce an error in the user interface for such data and won't crash.

Clearly the National Guard is needed to save us all from:

Dancing unicorns
Gyrating frogs
ICE fisherman

And our hard working immigrant friends and neighbours.

The sad part is $7k is still too high. We could have Medicare for all for under $3,500 a year with no deductibles or out of pocket expenses, but we choose to continue banging our dick in a desk drawer over and over again.

The go-by-the-rules people often don't. They just use it as a weapon to punish other people, but then can't imagine why it would apply to them. They're "good" people, after all.

CNN: “An older couple making $85K/year will see their yearly insurance premiums jump from $7K to $25,000 — 30% of their income.” 😳#TrumpShutdown #TrumpHealthCareTax

This is what Dems are drawing attention to and want fixed. Now, not later.

i’ve wondered whether the traditional tactic of peaceful resistance to shock the conscience of observers who see nonviolence met with force is still possible in a media environment where only novelty can get the attention of the people you need to be shocked, and portland seems to have an answer

Every new AI tool or gadget is advertised as the best new thing ever, don't wanna miss it for the world, everyone LOVES this...! And then the response from actual users ranges from "this is pretty useless and doesn't work as advertised" to "how do I nuke it from the orbit?"

Translation: Government Employees, just us in Congress/White House will get paid.. Government Employees outside of Congress/White House will not get compensation even when the Government shutdown is over.

My opinion: ALL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES THAT IS AFFECTED BY THIS SHUTDOWN SHOULD NOT GO TO WORK.

Everyone should stop working, see how the oligarchs love that.

No workers = no production
No workers = no tax $
No workers = no healthcare $
No workers = nobody to buy their products.

They are NOTHING without We The People! They work for US! Time to put the screws to these crooks!
