If Bari Weiss wanted to get this off the ground, she probably shouldn’t have started with the wife of a controversial fringe political figure

On a Saturday night

Against bowl season

And the NBA Cup semifinals

And the NCAA Volleyball Elite 8

But a real news director could’ve told you this
Major advertisers appeared to sit out a new CBS News town hall telecast Saturday, moderated by Bari Weiss and featuring an interview with Erika Kirk.

Lack of Madison Avenue support could challenge the viability of the format, which Weiss wants to expand

Or maybe Erika Kirk with Bari Weiss - it’s hard to tell who was supposed to be the one featured in all this.

I particularly love how Bari Weiss has put *herself* at the center of it all, appearing on camera like she's Oprah or something.

Is that really her job? Don't they have professionals who do this sort of thing?

this is crazy:

"ICE agents descended on one construction site in subzero temperatures, leading to a standoff with protesters and workers.

One man was taken to hospital for exposure. The other waited out the siege and was taken to safety after the agents left."

It's a sad commentary on what we've become as a country that one of the questions at the Brown U press conference was "How often do you practice active shooter drills?" I grew up in an era when assault weapons weren't widely available & school shootings seldom if ever occurred. I miss those days. 😢

In the newsletter this week, I point out that Stephen Miller’s great-replacement rhetoric depends on demonstrably false assumptions about immigrants’ politics.

Some bizarre stuff going down in the Oval these days. After spraying the Syrian president with his Trump Fragrance he then asks him how many wives he has.

If you want to do something like this, why not buy a $150k home in a small town in Italy, France, Spain, or Mexico, instead of having nine people share one bathroom after they eat at a restaurant called "Stinky's?"

This was the moment I stopped believing in the American government. I think this might be true of many people my age.
🇺🇸 On this day 25 years ago, The Conservative Supreme Court handed George W. Bush the 2000 presidential election.
A heartbroken Al Gore graciously conceded, and delivered a passionate call for national unity.

🇺🇸 Just 20 years later, Donald J. Trump lost by 7 million votes and attacked our country.

I love Kristi Noem insisting that no matter how insignificant the long past crime or messed up paperwork, people must be deported. The law is the law and there can be no exceptions.

But drug kingpins, rapists and wealthy fraudsters get pardoned because Trump feels they were treated "unfairly."

I'm searching Getty Images and found some photos credited to the Boston Herald that redact the faces of ICE/federal agents. They don't redact the face of the guy they're arresting.

I'm curious about the ethics of doing this. I don't think I've ever seen this on Getty before.

What's that? You're on 5 Ph.D. committees, & chair 2? A volunteer independent study for 2 Ph.D. students? 16 credits, right there.

We can do this all day. Or we could let universities govern themselves instead of having vindictive politicians that don't even fund us anymore pretend we're all lazy.

If you’re looking for something to do, start working on overturning citizens united in your state. States control the power corporations have. Take their political power away with a ballot initiative. Here’s how: open.substack.com/pub/robertre...
How to Get Rid of "Citizens United"
We can do away with it without a new Supreme Court. Nor do we need a constitutional amendment. There’s a far simpler way.
