No one cares about Tim Kaine. You drag his ass into your office and show him a picture of Abigail Spanberger, who'll you'll happily unseat him with if he doesn't fall in line.

Schumer could not have done more to lend credence to the progressive criticism of the Democratic establishment. There was no political pressure from the constituency to end the shutdown. You ended it for the donors. Stupifying politics. Kaine wants to break? Crush him.

I'd have put Fetterman's head through window. Maybe another clot would shock some sense back into him.
Can you imagine LBJ letting this happen? Smh they don’t make them like they used to

To elaborate: Davis appealed a tort judgement owed to a gay couple who sued after she refused to do her job.

The claim was essentially that she had a First Amendment right to ignore a Supreme Court decision in her official capacity.

Not an ideal way to get at a substantive due process precedent!
Even if you are convinced in your bones that they are itching to undo Obergefell (not obvious to me!), this was just an unbelievably bad vehicle to do that and they were not in a million years going to use this for that purpose

King is independent and Fetterman we know is nuts and a full on Republican now. Durbin is now retiring in disgrace, as a once good Illinois senator. Effing Tim Kaine was supposedly the great VP candidate with Hillary- I think like him the rest aren't up until 2030- fuck them.
I love boycotts & think they always work - these are the "democratic" senators that schumer let vote to give away your healthcare (if on ACA) - we need a general strike with rolling boycotts of some kind and some fucking leadership. Shaheen, Durbin,Rosen,King,Kaine, Hassan,Fetterman,Cortez Masto

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Please don’t think this beltway game of having retiring Dem senators vote yes while everyone else votes no is going to shield leadership from the end result. We see what is happening and can’t be fooled by those games.

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

Even more true today: Democrats are ripe for a base revolt like the GOP in 2015 when Trump went down the escalator.

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

If Schumer thinks a no vote will absolve him of responsibility, he’s dead wrong. He’s the minority leader. It‘s his job to keep Senate Dems in line — or to hand over the job to someone who can.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

THIS!!!
A. You cannot trade anything for a Republican promise. Their promises are worth nothing.
B. The House can simply refuse to consider it even if they actually allow a vote in the Senate and somehow don't vote it down.

THE ONLY THING THIS WILL DO IS KILL THE MOMENTUM DEMOCRATS ARE HAVING.
Major concession from Democrats here is enhanced ACA funds aren’t extended. Preserving them was Dems’ central demand in this fight. They secured a promise of a vote (which Thune has been offering for weeks), but that could still fail. Even if it passes, Johnson has made no promise of a House vote.
Tentative Senate deal to end shutdown, multiple sources tell me & @frankthorp.bsky.social:

—CR through Jan 30
—Approps minibus
—Fully funds SNAP
—Reverses Trump’s shutdown RIFs
—Promise of Senate vote on ACA subsidies by Dec second week (details/outcome uncertain)
—Led by King/Shaheen/Hassan
