Opening the government with no concessions from GOP merely to alleviate airline cancellations - when Congress has been dragging its feet for years on chronic FAA staffing issues - is a lame ass choice.

Also, doing it while the House refuses to work is appalling.

Lots going on but from outside it seems that at least part of the calculus was that flight disruption for middle class and up travelers matters more than life disruption for untold numbers who’ll be deprived of health care.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)

I really think that Dems should demand firing RFK Jr. as a condition to fund the government

his negative value over replacement cabinet member is undoubtedly the highest in the administration

Interesting @aselrod.bsky.social point about Trump's efforts to erase the history of slavery: It comes at a time when the American people's historical awareness has actually been on the rise, and it's *this* that must be rolled back at all costs:

When you publish a website that posts the names and photos of scholars who have written or said things you disagree with and encourage people to surveil and harass them, you are not, in fact, a “free speech” organization.
It is quite simply dishonest to describe TPUSA as a “free speech” organization and not even mention the “Professor Watchlist,” as NPR just did. Reporting on a crime does not entail adopting the victim’s views.

Again, political violence has no place in this country.

I probably don’t agree with Charlie Kirk on a damn thing, but that doesn’t matter - he’s a husband and a father.

This is despicable and can’t become our new normal.

A thing that will 100% happen next election are longform media pieces about struggling rural voters who feel abandoned by those elitist Democrats, wherein neither the reporter or any of the subjects mention the fact Trump ended all federal aid to their district and shut down their only hospital.

I actually agree that Democrats should refrain from using most of these. And they already do! When was the last time a Senator said 'heteronormative'?

The bigger problem is that orgs like Third Way are reinforcing this false, right-wing narrative. Dems can't stop doing something they're not doing!
Scoop: Third Way is circulating a memo, shared first with @playbookdc, featuring a new blacklist of words Dems shouldn’t use.
