"One Word Describes Trump" www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

I missed this on its first trip around, then saw it on the "most popular with readers" list for 2025. Recommended, despite the cheesy headline.

Especially valuable if you have ever compared him to a mob boss.

The exec that said "we thought it was farther along then it was" is absolutely the greatest issue right now. Not only is it not capable of doing any of these things on a broad scale, it will do them significantly worse than any employee. Going all in on something to boost stock value that fails.

Guy is going to debate grade school students!
I’m pleased to announce that in 2026, I will be bringing debate straight to grade schools, meeting students where they are and challenging ideas through open, confident, real debate, real questions, and developing a new generation of conservative activists

When I was working on never-printed manuscript fiction, I WAS the digitizer of dozens of manuscripts, by standing & photographing them page by page.

The one exception? In one memorable case, I raised funds to match with the NYPL to pay the $7500 digitization costs for this single manuscript.

Left-Handed Girl is much more than I thought it would be. Making it my next film after rewatching Breathless and seeing Nouvelle Vague ended up coincidentally very appropriate. The spontaneity! It takes two geniuses--actor and director--to get a performance this great out of a child this young.

The rate of return here is crazy: for a few hundred thousand dollars, this lab produces literally billions of oysters and supports a seafood industry worth hundreds of millions. And the Trump administration is just like "fuck all that, it's wasteful spending, you're fired"
