“These men risked their lives to speak with us. We have a moral and professional obligation to the sources who entrusted us with their
stories. Abandoning them now is a betrayal of the most basic tenet of journalism: giving voice to the voiceless.”

Greg Bovino is leading a rebel cavalry terrorizing America—and it's important to recognize that it's in retreat. While the trauma and terror Bovino’s raiders instill is real and damaging, it’s remarkable to note how ineffective the force has turned out to be. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/trump-bord...
Trump, Border Patrol Retreat in Failure from Chicago

Imagine possessing both the arrogance and incompetence of Dick Durbin.

We understand how the Senate works, dude. That's the fucking problem.

This sucks dude. EVEN if Thune isn’t lying to you about the vote, the House won’t hold a vote.

You got nothing, and just proved to the public that the shutdown was your fault.

And you proved to Republicans that they can weaponize hunger. You negotiated with terrorists

Yeah, I'm sorry, but you do not keep the government shut for more than a month and then NOT get a deal on the main item you have been messaging on without completely shifting the blame dynamic.
Major concession from Democrats here is enhanced ACA funds aren’t extended. Preserving them was Dems’ central demand in this fight. They secured a promise of a vote (which Thune has been offering for weeks), but that could still fail. Even if it passes, Johnson has made no promise of a House vote.
Tentative Senate deal to end shutdown, multiple sources tell me & @frankthorp.bsky.social:

—CR through Jan 30
—Approps minibus
—Fully funds SNAP
—Reverses Trump’s shutdown RIFs
—Promise of Senate vote on ACA subsidies by Dec second week (details/outcome uncertain)
—Led by King/Shaheen/Hassan

The right wing's bad faith brigades saw a photo that they wanted to believe mocked Charlie Kirk's murder. It didn't, but they didn't care, and they've done enormous damage to countless people who have no recourse. Pure scumbaggery, and standard operating procedure.
One photo, a deluge of threats: Inside the Arizona high school turned upside down by right-wing activists
A group of math teachers — some of whom were fans of Charlie Kirk — had their lives turned upside down this week over false accusations about a Halloween photo.

A witness in our case had ICE reject all her documents after using facial rec on her.

For her, tho, it seemed like nothing could make them accept that she has a right to be here.

Either way, a gov policy of not trusting gov-issued docs is going to violate lots of people's rights.

Kat is being federally charged by the FBI for protesting at Broadview.

This is a flagrant political prosecution by the Trump administration, which is trying to prevent free speech and free association.

I am proud of Kat. Her movement is being targeted by the government. She needs your support.
I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice.

This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.

The big news tonight is two-fold — Trump's "domestic terrorism" memorandum and James Comey's reported indictment — and both are signs that Trump's authoritarianism is here. Now.

Both situations, though, show how weak Trump actually is.

Fog of war! Trying to figure out whether (1) the grand jury no-billed count 1 of the indictment that’s been released, meaning it’s only active as to obstruction in count 2, or (2) they presented a 3-count indictment, the grand jury no-billed count 1, so they brought back a revised 2-count indictment

This is utterly deranged.
Well looks like they met for this — Ed Martin sent a letter to the FBI agent who testified during Alex Jones trial about seeing the Sandy Hook children dead. Martin asked if the agent had a financial incentive.

The rest is hard to parse. Martin wrote asking to keep the letter private.

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

But it happened very quickly. www.semafor.com/article/09/1...
