Resonance... Awakening... Infection... Out Break....

If you planned to pick up a copy of Parasite Eve at the end of March in 1998, then NewType Japan and GameWalker had you covered with a guide - and a very cool gothic ad with an undercurrent of eroticism for it.

SOCOM and Medal of Honor were huge properties, and Call of Duty 4 really wiped the mass market shooter slate clean after its release in 2007

Army Men was weirdly huge in the PS1 era

Pro Evolution Soccer / Winning Eleven was one of the biggest games in the world for a while

Also NFL 2K and Gameday
what are good examples of games that were a big deal at the time but have seemingly faded into, if not obscurity, then just a lesser profile than you’d expect. my go to is probably escape from butcher bay. kids don’t know there was a riddick game and it was legit

most unlikely, favorite discovery of 2025? danny brown (who i saw & didn't love on his first big tour with purity ring in 2012) cut an LP with a shitload of trans folk that got me to underscores—whose wallsocket is one of the best records i've ever heard.🧵

I've always wanted to get a picture of the sun setting directly above a sanderling

I could never land it

It's a complex shot since the sun sets above the ocean and the birds are BELOW the crashing waves

Even if you get it, you need to get multiple shots for depth of field

I came close tonight🪶 🧵

i'm pretty ignorant on this, but the epstein files being released by an administration clearly implicated in them after weeks or months of redactions seems... is that even anything? Is this not just like the cops investigating themselves and saying "nah, we good?"

Taking a break from the list with a real sicko's pick - Bladestorm: Nightmare. One of Koei's wierdest games. A regiment-level action-strategy game (think Dynasty Warriors but you control 30 guys at once) set in a gloriously mangled version of the Hundred Years War.

Usually overpriced. $15 for now.
