The supposedly dastardly Chinese algorithm that required everyone to lose their minds and set fire to the first amendment for this law also remains owned and developed by bytedance and is leased to the US consortium under this deal. So, y'know, congrats everyone, great job

Just making things up as they go along.

If this were continuous improvement, we'd say they were building an airplane while flying it.

This populist policymaking is more like like removiny the bolts mid-flight and replacing them with duct tape, ideology, and wishful thinking.

The EU manages to be simultaneously irrelevant AND do much to obstruct peace.

Once you accept that logic is the tool of the imperialist, it all becomes clear.
Can there be a better demonstration of the EU's performative irrelevance? They spent weeks negotiating with each other the issuance of 90bn euro debt which the EU cannot afford that will do nothing to win the War and much to obstruct Peace. www.ft.com/content/e569...

As I've said before, it's a fault in me, but what I can't stand most in this Century more than the murder, dystopianness and corruption... is all the lying. To me, the pure shamelessness of the Axis of Lies and the ease with which the liars get away with it is the worst sign of species-wide decline.

This is my cyclical reminder that there's really only one consistently reliable source of info in the public record that isn't owned by right wing billionaires, who really want to put an end to it.

This gave me an idea. If LLM can truly reason, someone should be able to train one on only texts preceding a major scientific discovery, then have the LLM reason the rest. No need to speculate on if LLMs are capable of novel discoveries. Test them on existing ones.

I remember writing years ago about a then-new initiative by Amazon to disrupt local government procurement of things like office and school supplies. Turns out Amazon's become very popular with school districts, and it's using dynamic pricing to rip those schools off.

The problem with all arguments of this sort is that they effectively rewrite the statute to exclude critical limitations. If a statute says "the president may do X on condition Y," but no court may second guess a presidential determination that Y obtains (even if it plainly does not)...
