I’m just a girl from Iowa… but were I a senator, I woulda voted no, threw two middle fingers in the air, and tell @schumer.senate.gov that my new goal in life would be to have him taken out of leadership.
I’d do it on DAY ONE.

Unlike fantasies about legislation, this is exactly the kind of stuff that Members in the minority can do and are doing. (And yes, sometimes part of that involves writing strongly worded letters. Really!). Enough? Maybe not. Dunno. More than people realize? Yup.
Good to see: Rep Jamie Raskin is encouraging whistleblowers inside DHS and DOJ to approach Dems and share info about failure to investigate ICE murders.

"We are now being far more direct in asking whistleblowers to come forward," Raskin tells me.

My grandfather was a man who skated the rule of law, who made friends with some unique individuals, and had a very colorful past. One of the first lessons he ever taught me was to never piss off a Federal Judge. This Administration has decided to fight the entire federal bench. Bold move, Cotton.

An extraordinary document. Read it.

“Attached to this order is an appendix that identifies 96 court orders that ICE has violated in 74 cases. … ICE has likely violated more court orders in January 2026 than some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence.”

It's amazing how this radical "step too far" is how every law enforcement officer in the country operated for our entire history.
Tillis says he opposes ICE being barred from wearing masks: "I've seen people dox me. I've seen people take pictures and identify law enforcement officers and then put their families at risk. So, I think that's a step too far."

The amount of money the US government spent on troops in DC in 2025 ($223m) would have been enough to give the city's ~5,100 homeless residents each $43,000. Instead, federal troops destroyed their meager encampments.
"Federal troop deployments to U.S. cities cost a total of $496 million in 2025, CBO estimates. Continuing current deployments will cost $93 million a month; 1,000 Guard personnel deployed to a city will cost at least $18 million a month." www.cbo.gov/publication/...

We should all be clear-eyed about how difficult it is to force change when you don’t even control a single chamber of Congress.

But it matters that opposition to this moment be as strong as it possibly can be, even if we fall short.

Democrats owe it to the country to fight with all their might.

I am a broken record saying the foundation of society is food, shelter, and medical care.

But actually the foundation is not having the government execute you for protecting your fellow citizens.

Democrats owe it to the American people to use every ounce of their limited leverage to fight this.

Bondi thinks she's going to win the propaganda war with this shit, but it's never been more clear that they're losing.
