“It's easy to cling to principles when it's someone else’s freedom at stake. From safe distance, many expect Venezuela’s democratic leaders to pursue their goals with a moral purity their adversaries never show. This is unrealistic, unfair, and reveals an ignorance of history.” tinyurl.com/3uhvwsbr

As I say here, this is not about saving the planet. The planet will be orbiting the sun long after we’re gone.

The question is, will there be a healthy, thriving human society on that planet? The answer to that question is very much up for grabs at this point.

Trump is an authoritarian neo facist that has no moral ground on anything, his positions on pretty much every subject are nothing i can agree with but we Venezuelans dont get to chose our allies specially when we spent literally decades looking for help and being ignored.

As everyone knows, the basis of capitalism is that if a product is great you'll need to cram it down everyone's throats (without consent) for years before finally being bailed out by the government
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

Look what you made them do
If progressives want to win back young men, then they must talk to them and address their needs, instead of constant scolding. All the finger wagging just drives them to Rogan, Peterson, and the Tate brothers. And they DO talk to young men.

Not a single MSM reporter did what this account here did. Sad state of affairs
Ok so if I understand yesterday's short-lived diplomatic crisis, Colombia (who has accepted plenty of deportation flights before) objected to the inhumane treatment of the deportees and thus refused to accept anymore until conditions improved. Trump freaked out and imposed sanctions & tariffs and 1/

In her first week, Biden FTC Chair Lina Khan pledged to "protect the public from corporate abuse."

In his first week, Trump FTC Chair Andrew Ferguson announced that "DEI is over" at the agency.

One agenda to protect people.

The other to distract from corporate plunder.

this is a great piece from kriston, and you should definitely read it (and not just because i'm in it!)

but there's an interesting and ongoing conversation offline that i'm currently in, around what building back better looks like in these kinds of environments.
A modern home in Pacific Palisades survived the fire while all the homes around it burned. It was luck, but also it was made to withstand a wildfire, and it did.

I spoke with the architect who designed it, plus other architects, about designing for disaster: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
