I thought Maddow made a compelling case last night that the goal is in and of itself to NOT get public approval, to not even bother to justify, to make it clear that the military belongs to him.

If a president violates the constitution or breaks the law and you don't impeach, you're ceding that the constitution is void and so is the law.
