My goodness, this poem. A beautiful, savage, blunt explanation of why we study war and conflict and also why military history is not and should not be just 'for the boys.'

The poem is moving in its unwillingness to whitewash the many tombs of war, as we should too should be unwilling.

Trump: “…And if he were the gentleman that you say he is, I would do that. But he’s not.”

There’s no “but I think he’s MS-13” carve out in the Supreme Court’s order. It’s brazen defiance.
Host: You could call and get Abrego Garcia back.

Trump: I could

Host: But the Supreme Court has ordered you to facilitate his release.

Trump: I'm not the one making this decision

The Trump Administration admitted in court that it NEVER should've abducted Kilmar, yet it continues to defy a court order to facilitate his return.

Trump claims there's nothing he can do. But as I wrote to him today, the VP of El Salvador told me explicitly — the ball is in Trump's court:

Atlanta chose motion, even when it was messy.

San Francisco chose stasis, even with every advantage.

One city feels alive.

The other feels like a museum.

I wrote about why Atlanta gives me hope.

And why San Francisco breaks my heart.

New post later today.

Not a single international cargo ship at the Port of Seattle. The port is dead. The last ship from China will dock at a West coast port on the 29th, and the last Chinese ship will dock on the East coast around May 10th. After that, there will be no more shipments arriving from China. We’re screwed.

As others have noted, it’s truly wild to see Terry Doughty write this. He is one of the most extreme MAGA judges appointed in Trump’s first term, author of many wacky, hard-right rulings reversed on appeal. When even he is appalled by an illegal deportation—it’s a sign of something. Wow.
NEW: A federal judge raised alarm Friday that the Trump administration appeared to have deported a 2-year-old U.S. citizen to Honduras with "no meaningful process" — even as her father was fighting to keep her in the country.

I think one basic thing that Dems totally miss is that during a *campaign* you probably need to be fairly conscious of public opinion/political landscape and tailor your approach, but times between elections are when you can and *should* try to shift the landscape
The only Democrats who have been wrong about how to respond to Trump in his first 100 days is the Democrats who have tried to kiss ass. Everybody else was right. Every messaging strategy is working.

I think all politicians should promise to name big expensive projects after Trump and then just don’t after the check clears.
This headline is making way too much out of her actual quote – especially since Trump is almost certainly not going to spend $7bn on renovations:

“If he puts $7 billion into it? Who knows?” Hochul said when asked about the renaming prospect.

There are no kings in America.

Trump and Bondi can't just decide to arrest sitting judges at will and threaten judges into submission.

This is a dangerous escalation, an attack on the separation of powers, and we will fight this with everything we have.

It really does annoy me that you have to talk to morons (Rogan, Schulz, every other failed B list comedian) with large audiences to try and persuade them to treat governance seriously (when they spend most of their time doing the opposite)
If we’re serious about more efficient government and better everyday life in America - which we all should be - that means actually improving government, not cutting health care for poor people and slashing support for veterans.

I think people are underrating how bad this is going to get in summer.

DJT cannot look weak, and every country on planet earth knows it has us over a barrel right now. Even our allies are going to be looking for *concessions* from *us* not vice-versa, and Trump's team won't be able to handle that.
