Kind of wild there has been almost no coverage of the fact that the federal government unleashed chemical weapons against literal kids *at school*.

Word to the wise: even if you aren't in a city under direct attack yet, you want to be developing these sorts of relationships NOW with sympathetic folks at local institutions.

You want to have those numbers in your phone ready for when you have to send exactly these sorts of texts.
Absolutely insane that my life has become texting with local church pastors to try and find a safe place to hold an emergency meeting for parents at my kid’s’ preschool to figure out how to respond to the federal government kidnapping neighbors.

Remember how Republicans used to argue that "We need the Second Amendment as a check against federal government tyranny"?

Bear in mind that absolutely none of them are making that argument right now, even though federal government tyranny is the scenario that they claimed to fear the most.
The danger of this moment cannot be overstated. Trump/Noem's vile defense of the killing shows that the heavily-armed government agents roaming our cities are unbound/unaccountable even when they kill Americans.

On the pod, @felipedlh.bsky.social and I dig into this:

Trump’s ICE Agents Killed a Citizen. Then Damning New Details Emerged.
As the ICE shooting horror in Minneapolis gets worse, a writer who focuses on ICE accountability explains why the government’s cover story is full of holes—and what recourse we have now.

Do not comply with illegal orders.

You have a right to film police and federal agents on public property.

You have a right to assemble on public property without permits (in most areas), but also fuck getting permits for the rest.

Don't stop recording. Don't stop watching.

It’s easy to think that schools in Minneapolis are closed because the Feds murdered someone in the street but no, the actual reason is that while that was happening, the Feds were busy doing other heinous shit across the city like tear-gassing a school
“The move came after officials at Roosevelt High School said armed U.S. Border Patrol officers came on school property during dismissal Wednesday and began tackling people, handcuffed two staff members and released chemical weapons on bystanders.” — www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...

It does seem like we’d be better off if we could set aside normal debates about government spending and focus on the very dangerous things the current government is doing. Then, there might be space for a return to the normal, healthy policy debates we used to have.
Democrats need to understand that they can just say “It’s insane to threaten Greenland” and “I don’t think ICE should murder Americans in the street” and you don’t need to pretend to link it to the affordability crisis.

Say bad things are bad.
