A tuxedo cat looks thru a window. They have a very sweet face @angetranland #peekskillny do you recognize this cat? it befriended my cat @ohaibatai this summer, then when the big snow came it became evident it'd been living on our back porch. i tried to ignore it but when the temperature dropped to -17*F i got worried and (foolishly) made it a makeshift shelter (2nd pic.) soon the little shelter will not be warm enough over night i have 2 rescues already and can't accommodate more if you can, please send this post around or DM if you'd like to possibly adopt No-Name the Cat. it's a very affectionate creature, purrs like an engine and gets along with other cats. is it old to describe a cat as polite? because it IS a polite cat. if i can't find its existing home or a new one... i'll have to take the risk of brining it to the nearest @spcawestchester - because there is a high influx of strays this time of year this little baby could be killed if i bring them there (not out of cruelty but out of shelter capacity/ necessity.) No-Name is a GOOD CAT i don't want it to die.

No bigger than a lanky dwarf rabbit, the Lesser mousedeer is one of the world’s smallest known hoofed animals. I heard a crunching sound coming from the gloomy undergrowth. Peering through the foliage, I found this little guy cracking open seed pods.

General reminder of the words of proud son of Virginia, Major-General George H Thomas. The "Rock of Chickamauga". Who, unlike Lee, stayed loyal to the Union.

Post-war he had views on 'Lost Cause' and the damage it would do to America, unchecked.

Something lovely for the weekend!

Beautiful blue glass beads from the late Bronze Age 💙

Ploughed up by a farmer in Denmark in 1885, analysis shows the beads were made in Mesopotamia, pointing to long-distance trade in luxury goods some 3,000 years ago.

The image shows fourty-four annular (ring-shaped) translucent turquoise blue glass beads strung on a modern circular thread and displayed against a black background. The glass beads were found in 1885 when a farmer ploughed up a cremation urn at Kongehøj in Denmark. The urn broke and was found to contain burnt bones, the 44 blue glass beads and two gold spiral rings. Recent analysis shows the beads were made in Mesopotamia (present-day Iraq), indicating far-reaching trade in luxury goods some 3,000 years ago.
